**Call or Email to Visit our Alpaca Farm and/or Gift Shop** We are an alpaca farm with 12 alpacas and 2 guard llamas. We love to have visitors come out to meet and learn about alpacas and llamas. We provide information and displays showing how their fiber is sheared and processed into yarn; pictures of our crias (baby alpacas) on their 'birth days'; pictures of our animals before and after shearing; and other fun pictures from around our farm. We have a Gift Shop with many, many alpaca related items including alpaca yarn (homespun and mill spun), scarves, hats, purses, gloves, books, ornaments, throws, pillow covers, stuffed animals and much more.
We LOVE this place and have been there twice, both times with teenagers, but perfect for ALL ages. The owners, Sarah and Mike are probably the nicest people I have ever met. They patiently give private small tours of their lovely farm of alpacas and llamas and allow their visitors plenty of time to ask questions, meet the animals, pet and feed them and take pictures. My daughter's friend started crying happy tears when she got to pet llamas for the first time! They have an adorable gift shop featuring some items made from their own Alpaca's wool. We can't wait to return. We live in the Raleigh/Durham area and it is a beautiful 45ish minute drive for us. There is no charge for the visit, so we are happy to buy something to help contribute to the upkeep of their beautiful animals.

This is a great destination for all ages. Enjoy the best ice cream around while sitting on our huge front porch! See the beautiful cows that produce the delicious milk and cream that make up our awesome ice cream. Take a scheduled tour of our working dairy farm which includes seeing the milking parlor where our cows are milked, feed a baby calf, and even milk a simulated milk cow. Great fun!
Simply Natural is a simple farm, where they produce the milk, process it and sell it all in the same setting, so they can guarantee the quality, which is excellent. The cows are well taken care of here with lots of space, and the owner Neil is a fantastic guy who puts love and care into his work here on the farm. Everything from the chocolate milk to the ice cream is excellent. Really enjoyed the cookie dough and the apple dapple. There's a playground for kids, and it would be a great outing for kids to get in tune with how some of the items they eat make it to the table.

On any given day at Island Farm, our staff is telling the real story of the hardscrabble life of Roanoke Islanders who first settled here – after the Lost Colony, and before the Civil War and the Wright Brothers first flight. You’ll find live demonstrations including everything from traditional agricultural, blacksmithing, food preparation, hearth cooking, weaving and spinning wool, feeding the animals, and so much more! History is alive here, and ready for you – don’t miss it! Open seasonally from April to November - Tuesday through Friday - 9am until 3pm. Special Events held through out the season.
Last week I attended Christmas at the North End which is a recreation of Christmas on Roanoke Island in the mid-1800s. This was a wonderful experience and walking around this circa 1840 restored farm is very peaceful and really takes you back to an earlier time. There are sheep, a cow, very curious and friendly chickens as well as small orchards, vegetable gardens and a family cemetery to visit as well. The farmhouse and other buildings are decorated for Christmas and staged to show the preparations of the season - wreaths, food and other festivities. Individuals in period costumes are staged throughout the farm and offer visitors the chance to make a beeswax candle over a fire, put together a grapevine wreath, or have a small snack (in a tiny bag) of freshly popped popcorn. This is a don't miss on Roanoke Island!

My husband and I had a great time trail riding! Chris taught us how to trot and canter which made it even better!!!! He is super knowledgeable about horses. Would highly recommend going and we plan to return again.
