Ho Dong Thai is a natural freshwater lake. Here, with the lake surface surrounded by green vegetation hills, it seems that the industrialization has not affected this place, making the landscape look unspoiled and deserted. The lake bends around the tops. Small hills create beautiful "peninsula", in the small hills on the island there are many species of plants and animals.

Ma Tien Cave is located in the middle of Mount Roi Ngua in Ma Tien village, Yen Dong commune is a beautiful landscape. The door is 15 meters high, 10 meters wide, looks like the mouth of a giant fish is wide open. The cave base in this cave is sunken, unflattened, filled with large and small stones of various shapes. From the cave floor through a narrow entrance door will step to the second floor

Very beautiful landscape, they have about 9 wonderful caves.
This is a beautiful nature preserve in Ninh Binh province that hasn't been discovered and over-run with tourists like Trang An and Tam Coc. Similar natural features, but smaller scale, and the boat tours are still run by the locals on a small scale. We went out in a small bamboo boat paddled by a friendly young woman who made conversation in her limited English and our limited vietnamese, but she taught us the names of birds, pulled snails out of the water to show us. We saw quite a few water birds, including storks, though we didn't get to see the Langurs who are native to the area (we think we heard some vocalizing however). Most of the other visitors were Vietnamese families and groups on a sunday outing, all of whom, including the children, wanted to greet us. Unlike Trang An and Tam Coc, we didn't feel pressured to buy anything or tip, though we were delighted to tip this young woman who had given us such a pleasurable visit.

Trang An grottoes which is a gathering of 31 valleys, 50 cross-water caves, and home to 600 kinds of flora and over 200 kinds of fauna, many of them in the Red Book of Vietnam.
I took route 2 and did it in late afternoon, it is a must-do when you are in Ninh Binh..splendid sceneries, impressive caves, mysterious karsts; all of these make the boat ride just simply amazing and breathtaking.

The Mua Caves had been quite "simple" nothing amazing or perhaps great though the primary attraction there's visiting the top part, uniquely before sunset. The perspective is one the most incredible things you'll actually observe, breathtaking, will be the ideal picture that I'd in the head of mine when someone mention vietnam, take your time love everything and it is completely well worth it.

A few hours drive from Hanoi, it felt like a world away from the noise and bustle. Beautiful old trees in the rainforest are sure to please nature lovers, as well as hikers with some longer treks available. At the entrance, there are monkey and turtle sanctuaries. While the language barrier definitely meant we got upsold to have a tour guide for the sanctuaries (60k pp, +60k VND for the guide), it actually made the experience somewhat better. While there is a pangolin and canivore sanctuary mentioned, we were not able to get a consistent answer about when they were open, or how to get to them. The Cave of Early Man was another highlight of the park. While it is suggested that phone lights are enough, the caverns are large enough to merit torches to get the full experience. One the right hand side of the entrance cavern, there is a small opening that leads to a steep series of rusted ladders. Going up them takes you to some more majestic caves, with bat colonies. In perhaps the best commendation of Cuc Phong, the driver we'd hired for the day ended up joining us more the cave and forest walks, enjoying it as much as we did.

A recently opened to public attraction in Ninh Binh. A short hike of 2000+ steps up to the peak, good view. Didn't take the boat rides as we already taken a similar one at Trang An. Worth a visit, free to enter excluding the boat ride.
