Kingdom Brewing

Brian and Jenn Cook created Kingdom Brewing with the intent to brew authentic craft beers from a wide variety of locally produced ingredients. Starting with American grown grains, they combine farm chemistry and heirloom recipes with ingredients from their farm & greenhouse such as maple sap, spruce tips and berries to create a variety of light to robust seasonal beers.

For several years, I have considered checking out Kingdom Brewing. We made the trek this year. The only question I have is why did it take so long to visit the brewery. The recipes are creative and imaginitive. They really work. The brewer and his staff entertained us with interesting antecdotes. My wife and I were charmed. Rarely does my wife like dark ales. She enjoyed every dark ale she tried. Visit the Northeast Kingdom and venture into Kingdom Brewing. You can't go wrong!

Jed's Maple Products

Reviewed By Paul T - Bristol

While visiting friends in Derby they took us to Jed's Maple house. Besides many great maple products for sale, we got a very informative and entertaining tour of the museum and current facility by Steve the owner. His family has been involved in making syrup for 5 generations! The whole process is quite impressive and much more scientific than I ever imagined. Plus, Steve is passionate about what he does and makes the tour very entertaining. We also got to taste test different grades of maple syrup. This was a taste test for all ages. (except for the last one which was bourbon infused). Definitely check out their Facebook page too. I might even order some of their unique products for Christmas presents and I can't wait to try the Maple Mudd (chocolate peanut butter sauce).

Northern Star Lake Cruises

Sadly this will be the last season (2016) cruising on Lake Memphremagog-thank you to everyone's support and positive wishes over the past 4 years. All the best - Capt C. Johansen

A large group of friends went for a fall foliage boat trip on the Northern Star. We had a lunch cruise on Lake Memphremagog in Newport, Vermont. It was a fun way to enjoy an afternoon of beauty on the lake. The captain had an abundance of information. The history of the Northern Star was interesting as well as the information about the lake.

The lunch was great. We had sandwiches, soup and salad along with chips and cookies for dessert. The coffee was a welcome treat on a crisp fall day.

MAC Center for the Arts

The MAC Center is a combination of art studio and store. My wife and I first went to it during its "Art in Bloom" display, in which artists create floral displays to echo and expand conventional paintings, but we've been back several times for other shows.

It has a surprisingly eclectic collection particularly for a relatively small New England town.

Generally, the displays are in the basement area while the street floor is dedicated to sales. Unfortunately, which the first floor is handicapped accessible, the lower floor isn't
