From its base on Newcastle’s quayside, Live Theatre produces work as varied and diverse as the audiences it engages with. To do this it:• Creates and performs new plays of world class quality• Finds and develops creative talent• Unlocks the potential of young people through theatre.Founded in 1973, the theatre was transformed in 2007 via a £5.5million redevelopment. The result is a beautifully restored and refurbished complex of five Grade II listed buildings with state-of-the-art facilities in a unique historical setting, including a 160 seat cabaret style theatre, a studio theatre, renovated rehearsal rooms, a series of dedicated writer’s rooms as well as a thriving café and bar. In 2013 Live Theatre celebrates 40 years of making plays. A special year-long relationship with Port of Tyne to support its 40th anniversary programme recognises Live Theatre’s own strong connections to the river, the Port and the trading heritage of the region.Live Theatre is grateful for the support of Arts Council England and Newcastle City Council.
Continues to be a great place to visit and have a few pints of Moretti watching a small intimate show. This time there were 2 shows for only a tenner!!! They were both very good!

You supply the suggestions. They supply the laughs! The Suggestibles improv comedy group performs at The Stand Comedy Club the third Thursday of every month (December varies). The six-strong cast takes suggestions from the audience to inspire scenes, sketches and songs. If you like Who's Line is it Anyway? You'll love the Suggestibles! The night is different to stand-up. It's theatrical with a friendly, party atmos. If you can't make a Thursday night at the Stand, Google 'The Suggestibles' - they play many other nights at clubs and theatres about town. The Stand Comedy Club is in central Newcastle, serving up top comedy and bistro food seven days/nights a week. Entrance to the basement comedy club is via the Stand Bistro, with an 'accessible' entrance to the side, and a terrace to the rear. You supply the suggestions. They supply the laughs! The Suggestibles improv comedy group plays The Cumberland Arms the first Saturday each month (July & December varies). The Suggestibles have been pulling crowds to the upstairs venue of this real ale pub since 2004. The six-strong cast takes suggestions from the audience to inspire scenes, sketches and songs. If you like Who's Line is it Anyway? You'll love the Suggestibles! The night is very different to stand-up. It's theatrical with a friendly, party atmos. The Cumberland Arms is a short walk from Newcastle's quayside, (nearest metro is Byker) with wonderful views from its huge beer garden and B&B rooms. A real ale pub, with snug fires, friendly folk, and a warm welcome.

Welcome to the roaring 20's! Home of cool jazz and cabaret. A world of slick style and hard liquor! Prohibition Cabaret Bar is the award winning home of all things entertainment for performers and audiences alike. Built specifically to provide a stage for variety, cabaret, music hall and vaudeville acts from the region and beyond for audiences far and wide. Not to mention our fully equipped private hire facilities. Prohibition was moved from the original railway arch premises - lock, stock and two oak-smoked barrels, to the former Jazz Cafe premises of Newcastle's famous Pink Lane in January 2019. Why don't you come on in and join us! ~ Mitch
I attend the monthly burlesque shows which are always a brilliant night out, I often pop in for a couple of drinks at the start of a evening / dinner in town and I’m always served by brilliant staff and the bar has a lovely atmosphere. There is two levels so ideal for a private party upstairs. Decor is great and you do feel like you have traveled back in time. It’s a proper gem of a bar, right in the city centre. Well worth a visit! X

We went to see the fabulous Beauty and the Beast panto last night at the wonderful Theatre Royal Newcastle and my goodness it was absolutely amazing. We have been going with the kids every year for a good while now and it never dissapoints. It has it all, beautiful singing, dancing, comedy, slapstick and the star of the show Danny Adams is just amazing. One of the main things we love about this panto is how much we all laugh kids and adults alike they have the comedy balance perfect for the whole family. There are still tickets available if you fancy a post Christmas treat. Tickets are also on sale for next year's panto Humpty Dumpty. You can also see Danny and the gang at their amazing cirque du hilarious shows which again are absolutely brilliant. https://www.theatreroyal.co.uk/ http://www.cirqueduhilarious.co.uk/tour-dates.html
