The result is a beautifully restored and refurbished complex of five Grade II listed buildings with state-of-the-art facilities in a unique historical setting, including a 160 seat cabaret style theatre, a studio theatre, renovated rehearsal rooms, a series of dedicated writer’s rooms as well as a thriving café and bar. In 2013 Live Theatre celebrates 40 years of making plays. A special year-long relationship with Port of Tyne to support its 40th anniversary programme recognises Live Theatre’s own strong connections to the river, the Port and the trading heritage of the region.Live Theatre is grateful for the support of Arts Council England and Newcastle City Council.

The six-strong cast takes suggestions from the audience to inspire scenes, sketches and songs. If you like Who's Line is it Anyway? You'll love the Suggestibles! The night is different to stand-up. It's theatrical with a friendly, party atmos. If you can't make a Thursday night at the Stand, Google 'The Suggestibles' - they play many other nights at clubs and theatres about town. Newcastle Arts Centre Limited was founded as an Arts Development company in 1981.We are 9 buildings around a central courtyard, including a bespoke picture framer, details art shop, The Craftshop for orignal handmade ceramics and lots more, 2000 sq ft Gallery, Gallery Cafe serving a wide selection of drinks and great homemade food, and not forgetting the Black Swan, our cellar bar and venue, available for hire most nights of the week for partys and weddings and more..we are open Mon - Fri 9am - 5.30pm, Saturdays 9am - 5pm, Closed Sundays and Bank Holidays. The Black Swan is open to the public on Fridays from 7.30pm - 12 midnight with Salsa in the main venue ( the bar is free entry, there is an entry fee for the salsa, this includes dance lessons).
