New York State has it all – booming metropolises, majestic waterfalls, mountains, wine country, chicken wings. Yes, NYC is a magnet for tourists, but an exploration of the rest of the state can be equally thrilling. The Finger Lakes Wine Region is a vision of serene waters, quaint B&Bs, and pretty vineyards. Movie buffs will love Rochester, home of the George Eastman House and one of the world’s most comprehensive film archives. On your way to Niagara Falls, stop in Buffalo to fuel up on spicy wings.

Located in the heart of Soho, Liquor Lab is a hands-on, interactive craft beer, wine, spirits and cocktail event space where guests can experience custom beverages like never before. Think of this as a cooking class, but solely for specialty sips. While learning about recipe history and preparation, attendees shake, stir and sip delicious drinks.

Women of Culture is a social enterprise that creates art-based experiences, trips and private group events designed to connect, inspire and empower women while also showcasing the power and necessity of the arts. I started her career in Marketing and transitioned to Graphic Design before noticing a lack of connection to the arts and other women in her own life.

We attended the 6:30pm class on Saturday August 10th. I booked it to celebrate our wedding anniversary. All of the staff was very friendly and informative. We learned a lot about how to make pizza at home in your own oven using simple ingredients and tools. The class started off by making our own dough from scratch. While our dough was rising, the staff created four pizzas for us to try. Then it was time to make our own. After sampling the sauce and some cheeses we took our dough and created four pizzas however we chose. We decided to create a margarita, classic NY pepperoni, a white pizza and last a desert pizza. We ended up taking home almost three whole pizzas. At the end of the night we went home satisfied, stuffed and with plenty of leftovers and happy memories. We cannot wait to give this as a gift for others to experience. This is a must do if you like pizza and great for a date night.

Founded in 2002, Home Cooking New York provides intimate and hands-on cooking classes at their Manhattan cooking school as well as private classes in students’ home kitchens. Our clients range from absolute beginners to amateur home cooks who want to expand their culinary education. HCNY’s classes range from the basic cooking techniques (Culinary Boot Camp, Six Basic Cooking Techniques, How to Cook Fish, How to Cook Vegetables, Pork Lovers Workshop) to cuisine-focused favorites (Indian, Thai, Korean, French Bistro, Middle Eastern, Northern Italian). Each 2 ½ hour class includes a recipe packet and has a maximum of 10 students. The class is centered around the preparation of a complete menu and culminates in a sit-down meal with your fellow students.
We love cooking classes and this ranks amongst our favourite. We took the southern-style bbq and can’t wait to try the recipes in our own kitchen. Highly recommend for an afternoon away from the hustle and bustle of NYC

The flow of a private cooking class at Abigail's Kitchen look like this: you and your friends/clients/coworkers arrive, and we ply you with drinks. After 15 minutes or so, we gather around to discuss the menu. After talking in detail about the menu we get to work on the prep for the various parts of the menu. All of this takes place in the dining area on our beautiful butcher block work tables. We head to the kitchen as needed , to get on the stove and in the oven, and then we transform the dining area from prep area to one big table for eating. We're very flexible when it comes to menu. We love to cook just about anything, don't worry about dietary restrictions we can accommodate your needs. Please contact us for more details and small or large group private parties.
