New York State has it all – booming metropolises, majestic waterfalls, mountains, wine country, chicken wings. Yes, NYC is a magnet for tourists, but an exploration of the rest of the state can be equally thrilling. The Finger Lakes Wine Region is a vision of serene waters, quaint B&Bs, and pretty vineyards. Movie buffs will love Rochester, home of the George Eastman House and one of the world’s most comprehensive film archives. On your way to Niagara Falls, stop in Buffalo to fuel up on spicy wings.

Available to view Mon - Thurs by appointment. Please call the gallery. At over 3,000 square feet, DM Weil Gallery may be one of the largest modern art galleries in New York's Hudson Valley. Just a short drive from the center of picturesque New Paltz, DM Weil Gallery offers the look and vibe of an exclusive Soho style exhibition space, but with the majestic Shawangunk mountains as a backdrop. The eye-popping abstract creations of acclaimed painter DM Weil -- has been praised by critics and collectors alike, the gallery's mission statement remains, "Why Can't Fine Art Be Fun?".
Do not miss DM Weil gallery if you are in the New Paltz area! Donna's art is absolutely stunning--vibrant, colorful, joyful, radiating light. Donna works on premises and it is so special to hear her talk about her wonderful art on display. Donna, Sammy, and Ken are so sweet and welcoming, as well as incredibly knowledgeable with regards to both the art and the many printing services they do in house. This was a wonderful place to spend the afternoon, not to mention I picked up the most unique hand-painted overalls!

Loved this little shop in Tarrytown. Everything is handmade (well almost) and made in different parts of the world. The owner of the shop is a very nice and helpful lady, highly recommend stopping by if you are visiting Tarrytown or of you live there.

Jay, the artist, makes one of a kind gliclee art I have never seen before. He always takes the time to speak with visitors and encourage student artists. His prices range from inexpensive, moderate to high. Jay's art is great for ANYONE's home and makes great gifts!

Pepsi was one of the few corporations to seriously invest in modern sculpture, and the result is this impressive collection.
I was meditating and focusing on my heart chakra during my come-up as I meditated by the pond and the trails started to kick in as I meditated and the clouds were coming off of it it was like a Monay painting. I got up and started strolling through the sculpture garden. Let me tell you, the visuals that go with this is priceless. I wish I had the words for it or a way to draw it for you or maybe take a picture of it in my mind - like a tripping camera how aweseome would that be! Anyway The ladies were dancing around and around and around me and I felt connected to the universe, I felt that each of them was an element and all of them working in unison made the world go round. Then I got a little bit sick and had to boot. I recovered though, got up, and jogged around the park. I found a nice bench to sit down and meditate once I found myself regaining control and focus. I definitely found that this place helped me realign my energies. I recommend it.

The Brooklyn Museum is one of the largest art museums in the United States and one of the premier art institutions in the world.
We traveled from Chicago to visit the excellent Frida Kahlo exhibit, and were very impressed, especially by the large collection of her clothing featured in so many of her paintings and photographs. Great videos, too. But the rest of the museum offered other fascinating exhibits. Don't miss the Do Ho Suh fabric recreation of his apartment on level 5 ("Perfect Home II") --- Note: it's only available for showing on weekends. We especially enjoyed the Dinner Party by Judy Chicago on Floor 4. (Tip: Be sure to wait for a circulating copy of the book that accompanies the exhibit. There were only two copies available when we were there, but without the booklet it's hard to fully appreciate the exhibit).
