August 4, 2021 Oliva Fomby

Conquering New York in one visit is impossible. Instead, hit the must-sees – the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art – and then explore off the beaten path with visits to The Cloisters or one of the city’s libraries. Indulge in the bohemian shops of the West Village or the fine dining of the Upper West Side. The bustling marketplace inside of Grand Central Station gives you a literal taste of the best the city has to offer.

Haunted Manhattan offers the most accurate—and FUN—ghost tours in the city! On our Greenwich Village tour, a secret underworld of ghosts and ghouls reveals itself as you’re guided through the streets by "noted professor of anthropology & the supernatural," The Professor. The Professor will guide you to 13 haunted locations, from Washington Square Park, a former potter's field and now the beating heart of the Village that seems to host multiple famous spirits (including a ghost dog!), to the former home of Mark Twain that may also hold malevolent spirits, telling you tales of haunted dorm buildings, churches, fire houses, theaters, and more along the way... A historical, hilarious, and completely hair-raising experience, Haunted Manhattan will show you the greatest city there is, like you’ve never seen it before.

My daughter and I went to Nee York for the first time and decided to go on a haunted tour. It was late in the season on a week night and we were the only two but they took us anyway. Vinny was our guide and she was awesome. She was entertaining, friendly, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend the west tour. Enjoy!

while the tour is advertised as "haunted" and we do get to hear scary stories about the various ghosts that perhaps inhabit buildings around Washington Square Park, the best part of the tour for me was the actual history that inspires the ghost stories. some of this history is more than 300 years old !!! our "professorial" guide (himself perhaps a rather vivid spectral being) is well-informed, congenial, and makes a personal connection with each person individually in the tour. the suggestions for a good pub afterwards were appreciated and I've been thinking about what I learned over the week that has transpired since this fun event (follow-up, in response to the questions below, there was no gear or equipment to sanitize unless people are NOT sanitizing their own disposable masks)

Did the Statue of Liberty tour on Monday 5/10 and it was a deeeeeelight! James was amazing and is full of pertinent facts and information! As soon as our group arrived James told us what to expect on the tour and let us know that he was available and encouraging of being our personal photographer! Ask for James, you won’t be disappointed- he is the keeper all of things Liberty Enlightening the World (I hope I’m remembering that fact right!) buuuuuuut, the company could put more signage around because there is none until the actual entrance to the building, but that’s not James’ fault- we found his flag!

I'm not one to get spooked easily or a firm believer of the spirits, but there were some pretty spooky parts. Alyssa, our tour guide, was great and extraordinarily knowledgeable about the history of Greenwich Village. As a new local to the city, it was the perfect combination of a history lesson and fascinating ghost stories that my partner and I were looking for. For me, it's especially surreal to know that I have passed by the house that John Wilks Booth stayed the night before he went on to make history without even knowing it dozen of times before I went on this tour. I would recommend it to anyone that likes any sort of dark history or paranormal activities.

A unique and relaxing way to spend a couple of hours. Hannah was a great guide; she has a quick wit and charm...and no corny jokes. You won’t regret this tour!

I received a message to say the tour was not possible on date booked due to the guide having a personal emergency and unable to run the tour. I did book this very last moment (the morning of the afternoon tour) and appreciate things happen causing the cancellation of walking tours. I was offered a new date but I was unable to take, as I would be travelling home and no longer in NYC. I requested a full refund but to date have heard nothing. I am hoping I will be reimbursed the fee I paid for a tour cancelled by the company.

I am ashamed it took me this long to write a review because of how truly incredible this experience was for my family and me. Before lockdown, I found Robin via multiple websites and booked a half-day tour by private car for myself, my mother, and gangster loving father. I prefaced the booking explaining that my father had a bad knee and I was a bit nervous about a walking tour. I was hoping he would still get the full experience viewing everything from a car and not just be stuck in New York city traffic all day. Robin customized the entire ride for us, and not only was she an absolute pleasure, she knew the streets so well she would ask the driver to pull up a couple of hundred feet when the sidewalk would be easier to get in and out of the car. It was a fun experience we still talk about and also happened to be the last time my parents will be in the city with me for quite some time. When we got hungry, and my father wanted to sit down for a meal (an unexpected request when we had a full picnic in the car), Robin, of course, knew the perfect place and was able to incorporate everything into part of the experience. She was incredibly knowledgeable and my father LOVED it.
