Visiting Taipei? Don't limit your sightseeing to the city center. Also known as New Taipei City, Xinbei covers more than 2000 square kilometers of Taiwan, including coastlines, hot springs, temples, historic landmarks and more. At Yeliu Coast, strange and fascinating rock formations rise from the rocky coastline. The Lin Ben-Yuan Family Abode and Garden is a tranquil place featuring graceful Chinese landscaping.

A stunning waterfall after an easy hike through the forest (roughly 45min). I recommend you take waterfall shoes with you if you want to venture on the rocks and across the water - the rocks are pretty slippery. There is a rather big parking lot just at the start of the trail - so make sure to drive all the way up (the road gets very narrow as is usual in Taiwan so drive carefully as there can be oncoming traffic).

We needed a short day trip from Taipei City and this was an ideal choice. A well paved trail leads 1.0 km to a series of cascades that make for a relaxing walk, a wonderful dose of natural beauty. It is about 30 minutes outside the city. We topped it off with a lunch and hot spring session in one of the local places and it made for a beautiful day.

We stopped here on our car ride to Jiufen. It's not a very big waterfall but it's definitely quite unique and interesting. It's also very close to the Shuinandong visitor center, which offers a great lookout point with views of the Yinyang Sea and of the hauntingly beautiful abandoned Shuinandong Smelting Plant. All information plaques are in chinese, english, and japanese.

Shifen is well known for the Shifen Waterfall a 40 metre tall waterfall that creates a rainbow as it splashes into the lake, widely regarded as the most scenic in all of Taiwan. The train station located down the river from the waterfall area, originally built for transporting coal, was built right alongside the Shifen Old Streets, and today stands as a reminder of Taiwan's history and culture. Went here as a part of Northcoast Tour, the Falls is kinda crowded that time but we had sometime to see and enjoy the nice view. The entrance here is free of charge and you can relax and roam around the area anytime you want but since we just joined a tour our time is just limited and we really didn't roam around the area and see the other part. Short time stay but we enjoyed. I love the falls , th hanging bridge, and the small river flowing up to the falls.. Great place to visit to.
