Port Jackson

Reviewed By 750dimitrisl - Sydney, Australia

Port Jackson is Sydney Harbour. Those who live in Sydney justifiably consider it the most beautiful harbour in the world, but this is obviously biased. Nevertheless it is one of the most wonderful harbours around! The views are absolutely magnificent from any point you care to stand, whether on land or from the water. It is a lovely, almost enclosed body of water, and several rivers and creeks drain into it. The jewels in the crown of Port Jackson are the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, but there are many other beautiful spots as well which are not hard to find. Take a few steps and you are in the Botanic Gardens, or board a boat and the whole harbour is your oyster! One of the best ways, if not the best way, to enjoy the Harbour is to get a ferry. It is very cheap and convenient. It will take you wherever you wish, really, and you will enjoy the most amazing views. Try it if you can!

This is easily the best marina we have used along the east coast of NSW. The factors are - 1) price ( not as pricey as the other major "name" and boutique marinas in the area 2) range of facilities - the marina has everything needed - bathrooms/ showering, visitor lounge, coffee shop, breakfast bars, restaurants, fuel, bilge & head pumping, chandlery etc etc. 3) excellent AAA professional friendly and personal service from the whole team from the manager, Darryl, through to all staff. This is easily my first choice of Marina in Port Stephens. I could not fault it in any department and we look forward to our annual visits for the Sail Port Stephens Regatta

This is a historically important spot in Newcastle, although most of it is now gone. This was the place of the first wharf, where coal was exported and ships unloaded cargo. Now it's a great spot to relax, have a nice walk and take in the views of Nobby's Headland, Stockton Beach and the Harbor.

We have been coming here for years, when we once belonged when living locally and now each time we visit Sydney. We love the view and the buzz. I had barramundi with delicious french fries..too much so had to share it with my husband! The meals are good. you order at the counter and collect when a buzzer sounds. Good wine and beer list. We stayed nearby and their restaurant had awful loud music so chose to eat at the CYC. If not a member, you can go here but must live outside the area and provide ID like a driving licence. Great place for all the family too as children love it. Parking a nightmare so go by bus, train or taxi.

The title pretty much says it all. The marina area in the afternoon for sunset with the family is beautiful, it has a great family vibe plenty of cafes and restaurants, the marina pub is the best place for a few sundowners , it’s family friendly and the food is great, the staff don’t come any friendlier, you can find a great crepe van right at the end of the marina.
