This restaurant did not live up to the hype. The mansion is beautiful; however, every single item served - both food and cocktails - were overdone, over-seasoned, overcooked, etc. it was just all either too sweet or too strong or too salty; just too heavy handed. Service was slow. Also the ambience was ruined by a raucous group of drunk Americans cursing and shouting. Nothing was said to them ever. We asked to be moved to a different room. One by one, every table in that room asked to be moved as well. About 8 tables total! Yep, that makes more sense than moving the a**h*les to a private room.

Have you ever had an experience so completely perfect, you were reluctant to review it because of its dreamlike perfection? That is how I feel about the Hidden Gems Tour of Versailles with Marc-Antoine. As I celebrate one year passing since my fiancé and I went on our first trip to Paris, this tour still stands out as being one of the most worthwhile things we did. I can’t image seeing Versailles any other way! The Mercedes van picked us up and dropped us back off right at our hotel in St Germain-des-pres and our guide, Marc-Antoine, told us all about the places we were passing on our way...we did not have to wait in the (unimaginably long) line (Amy of the lines) once we reached the golden gates of the Sun King’s palace; we moved seamlessly from room to room with Marc-Antoine guiding us through the throngs of people...I didn’t even feel claustrophobic, I was too fascinated by all the stories he was telling us! We were able to ask questions (he knew the answer to every one!) and we got details about the palace, the gardens...the paintings..everything..in a way that could only be possible being one-on-one with a local guide. My biggest regret was only doing the half-day tour—and my greatest hope is that someday we will be able to go back and have Marc-Antoine and Hidden Gems take us more extensively through the grounds and gardens! Merci beaucoup, nous espérons vous voir bientôt!
