What to do and see in New Jersey, United States: The Best Walking Tours

July 18, 2021 Christa Meece

Whether you are looking for sun-drenched beaches or outdoor activities in beautiful countryside, New Jersey has plenty to offer. Those who love the great outdoors should head for the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, which runs along the Delaware River for forty miles. Here you can go rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking or fishing, or simply admire the stunning waterfalls. There is a huge range of hiking trails to choose from as well as historic sites to visit. In winter, you can enjoy cross-country skiing near Blue Mountain Lakes, and birdwatchers might be lucky enough to catch sight of bald eagles. If you are looking for a change, visit one of New Jersey's eleven lighthouses that are open to public, such as the one in Cape May. For art and history enthusiasts, New Jersey State Museum in Trenton has historic artifacts and American fine art from the nineteenth century to the present day as well as a Planetarium.

We were a party of 17 in town for the weekend to celebrate my parents 50th anniversary. We ranged in age from 2-75 and we all loved it. It was a fast paced tour filled with a lot of humor and so much history. The tour guide kept us fascinated with her facts and an hour passed in no time....we did not want it to end! Princeton is an adorable, historical, little town and the best way to see it and understand it is with the Princeton tour company

Really excellent, go at your own pace tour! Kevin is a great guide! One of my favorite highlights-I am a fan of the TV show House, and the opening credits were shot at the Princeton campus so it was really cool that Kevin pointed that out. If you love history and have free time to spare in Princeton, I would definitely recommend this tour!

We paid $267 for the combination Hop On Hop Off with the "Go Philadelphia" pass. BUT, what they deceptively DON'T tell you is that Hop On Hop Off doesn't allow you to hop on or off anymore. So, if you, like us, thought you could use the bus to get to those museums and then use your Go Philadelphia pass for admission, you would be wrong, cheated, and disappointed. You can't get off the bus, and parking is impossible, so you are going to have to taxi or Uber your way to these location$, making this combination unusable. Not only do they deceptively not tell you about not being able to get off the bus until it is too late, but they have a no refund policy and do not respond to customer calls/messages. We have left three messages but received no replies. In a time when money is tight, taking a vacation is difficult, this shameless tour rip off is just so unfair. We are senior citizens traveling with our son. This has ruined our trip and potentially cost us a lot of money. Since they don't respond to our attempts to resolve this, like some Nigerian scam, we are forced to get resolution with our credit card company. We really hope you can avoid the problems we encountered.

View is absolutely amazing, but my advice is, if you arrive at 19:30 or later dont get the $59 ticket. I paid for two $59 all inclusive tickets + tax = $129, which gives you a few perks including $15 voucher on drinks at the cafe top. Arrived at the cafe to have a woman behind the counter turning the menus away as I was reading them because they had stopped serving for the night due to cleaning the machines (mo mentioned this when buying tickets). We then went to the food counter where we was then told the voucher couldn't be used on the food. We then went to the bar and had seats to be told we were not allowed to sit down in the seating area due to now having food. We decided to leave and hand our tickets back to gift them to someone. When explaining this guest relations didn't understand why we were unhappy. Do not but the $59 ticket after that time
