If you find yourself in North New Hampshire and area looking for an easily accessible area to be able to enjoy and view first hand one of the most historically and geographically significant areas in the state, then i highly recommend you visit Franconia Notch. Between the Old Man on the mountain, the logging industry, the hiking and tourism, Cannon ski area, etc. There is a ton to see and do. Also, there are lots of viewing spots and picnic areas to pull off into.

White Mountain National Forest

Great outdoors activities all year long.

Reviewed By WaitForIttttt - Hazlet, United States

My husband and I visited White Mountain National Forest this week for some pandemic-safe hiking because we heard it was forecasted to be peak foliage. We were so glad we did because the scenery was breathtaking, featuring all the gorgeous colors of autumn. There were tons of beautiful overlooks to stop at and a diverse selection of trails. We decided to hike the Champney Falls Trail and it was a lovely trail that followed the brook through the leaves to the waterfall. This Forest is definitely a must-see in Autumn!

Mount Tom

Small mountain located in Woodstock.

Took the trail from Faulkner Park. Easy grade with lots of switchbacks. Couldn't walk on the groomed trail to the lake after reaching the summit but still worth the hike.

Green Mountain National Forest

The Green Mountains offer among the best fall foliage viewing, pleasing both hikers and those on the many scenic drives.

Reviewed By margaretm504 - Bennington, United States

We took a picnic to Lara Falls in Green Mountain National Forest yesterday and had the best time! In our group were a three-year-old, a six-year-old, a 35-year-old and a 65-year-old. We all were able to hike the uphill trail with no problems. Many beautiful overlooks and places to wade in the stream along the way. Mosquitoes were a problem in the shaded areas and there was some mud from a recent rain, but you can do the hike in sneakers. Highly recommended!

This review is for the campground. If you are a nature lover, you will love this campground. Absolutely beautiful. Private sites with lots of trees and shrubs between you and the next campers. The bathrooms were clean and the showers were adequate. If you choose the last loop of the campground, the sites will be right on the river. The middle loop's sites are on higher ground. They provide bear boxes for your food because there is a lot of wildlife in the campground. Firewood is provided there but nothing else (they do have water and a sink at the restrooms) so buy all your supplies before you get there. Walk right from your site to hiking trails. This place is a gem.

Savoy Mountain State Forest

We stayed two nights in Cabin 1 and couldn't recommend it more highly. The cabin themselves are small but functional. Two bunk beds, a wood stove, four chairs and a table. Good spot really store your gear and not have to set up a tent. Cabin 1 is fantastic. The view off of the porch was just breath-taking and we enjoyed the solitude. If you're looking for a way to get "off the grid" without cell service or internet, this is the perfect spot. We really are lucky to have such amazing camping facilities right here in Massachusetts.
