I've been attending the NFR for many years now. While you can visit just about any resort in town to watch a live feed of the event, there is nothing that compares to actually being there. From the well organized free bus ride to and from the event to the rapid fire change between events, I can only come up with one negative comment. The seats are too narrow and cramped for a larger person! That's it! I strongly suggest you attend at least one session of the NFR if given the opportunity. Use the free bus transportation as it is much easier than Uber or Lyft.

A diverse band of dreamers, makers and artists gather every summer in a sprawling temporary city in the fierce heat of the Nevada desert. Embracing an alternative ethos, over 50,000 attendees come together to experience mind-blowing art projects and live in a self-reliant communal setting. Inspired by the burning of a wooden figure on a San Francisco beach in 1986, today this eclectic festival has grown into a worldwide phenomenon.

A spectacle of sound and light, Electric Daisy Carnival presents the best EDM DJs and production artists in the industry at this three-day festival in Las Vegas, NV. Dancing is one of the primary means of expression among attendees as are the whimsical, colorful jewelry selections and barely-there summer outfits. Unlike many other US festivals, the event is centered around a carnival theme, complete with circus performances, elaborate rides, and lofty art installations. This event gives new meaning to the saying 'we dance to the beat.'

Part festival, part concert, and all about serving up some delicious dishes. The Great American Foodie Fest brings together 50 of the USA's best food trucks and speciality vendors for some outdoor fun. Tents line up for four-day bonanza, flipping burgers and frying dough, with wide thoroughfares in between. For visitors who want to try out a few different options, there's plenty to do in between noshing: ferris wheels and rides, games and live performances. Whether you're in the mood for something exotic, something vegan, or something soul food: The Foodie Fest has you covered.
This year Great American Foodie Fest was free admission at the M Resort and Casino and the M Resort had free parking. My favorite thing to eat there was The Connecticut Roll from Cousins Maine Lobster and the corn on the cob. The Armenian Coffee Milk Shake from Lucy's Waffles and Ice cream was amazing. It had the perfect combination of everything I love: chocolate and caffeine. The watermelon lemonade from The Smhoken Pot was the strongest lemonade I have ever had. My friend got three tacos from Pablo's Kitchen for $10 and he said they were really good. It cost $2 to obtain the “Magic Money” card. This is what you would use to load your funds and pay for anything at the festival: rides, food, drinks. There are plenty of stations so it doesn’t take a long time to load your card. It doesn’t seem like you can get a refund if you overload on your card so it’s best to load your card as necessary. I loaded $40 onto my card and then just added as needed depending on what I wanted, towards the end of the night. I spent $51 at the fest not including the $2 charge for the card: $19 for a lobster roll, $5 for a roller coaster ride, $5 for corn on the cob, $7 for Armenian coffee milkshake, $10 for tacos, $2 for Diet Coke, and $3 for lemonade. I personally don’t think it was over prided at all considering these are food trucks and it’s a good festival.
