Walder Confiseur-Chocolatier

This Confiseur here has fantastic cakes (tourtes). Famous is the Truffle cake, and rightly so. Dark and heavy chocolate is used, that's a mouthful. But we loved the Tourte "Le Pave Du Chateau" even better. Covered with chocolate AND then chocolate powder. Creamy inside with a bit of jam. It's pure sweetness. It's heavy, it's filling....it's perfect. Really one of the best cakes we've ever bought in a bakery. Came back a few days later to get some more. Prices are fair - especially for its quality.

A stunning very well maintained church in the old town that one needs to visit. You also get beautiful views looking down over the town. Due to Covid and the number of groups we didn’t go inside but I’m sure would be worth a visit.

Galerie Quint-Essences

Intimate little "boutique" gallery in the old Town Hall of the Free Commune of Neubourg in the heart of the oldest part of the pedestrian area of the City of Neuchâtel. This builing dates back to the 16th century and the architecture is particularly lovely in its use of the local ocre stone for the facade. Parking (du Seyon) is located 2 minutes away and we are just down the hill from the train station. Our monthly exhibitions invite internationally known artists, but we don't forget to launch talented up-and-coming artists in the 5 arts: fine, street, performing, "the word" in all its forms, including the graphic arts, and fine artisan-arts such as blown glass, sculpture, etc. Ours is a warm welcome with a cup of tea or coffee in a relaxed atmosphere where peace and beauty encourage discussions about the works exhibited. A monthly concert is usually held on the last Thursday of the month and for the less than perfect English speakers who wish to maintain their English, we offer an Itsy-Bitsy English Tea Room for a couple of hours on Tues, Wed and Thurs. Contact us for all the details about these and other artistic and cultural events, then do join us! We believe visiting the gallery will remain a highlight of your trip to Switzerland.

Lac de Neuchatel

Reviewed By beatrizm115 - Dortmund, Germany

Really beautiful lake promenade in the center of Neuchatel, it is possible to sit on concrete or also in the pebbles of the pebbles beach. Directly access to the water from the center so you can swim! But limited space. Visited in winter, a sunny and warm day and everyone was sitting outside enjoying the sun, it was an awesome feeling. Amazing sunset too.

Chaumont Panoramic Funicular Railway

Reviewed By 9tania1616 - Bristol, United Kingdom

For me the ride in the funicular up to Chaumont is just part of visiting Neuchatel, it's essential and something I've done since being a small child! It never disappoints. The funicular is reached easily by bus (no 107) from the town centre. It's 4.20 CH francs each way and takes about 10 minutes to ascend and descend and the views, in both directions, are lovely. Once at the top, there's a small restaurant and various walks. You can also drive up to Chaumont. The view is fabulous and particularly if you go up the viewing tower. It's one CF franc per person and there's a change machine in the funicular station. The view from the top of lake Neuchatel and the alps is so worth the few steps up the tower as it takes you right above the trees. Even on a foggy day, when we couldn't see across the lake in Neuchatel, once in Chaumont and above the clouds, you see the whole Alps range including Mont Blanc to the right and the Matterhorn and the Eiger to the left. It's beautiful and spectacular.
