Old Gurung Museum

Reviewed By Factual

If interested in the old way of life of the local culture, consider spending 15 min - 1 hr here while in Ghandruk. One large room is stuffed with old everyday things made of bamboo (baskets optimized for every need), wood (containers, musical instruments), brass (pots, dishes), wool (blankets), etc... weapons, an altar, many things a Gurung farmer's family needed. Labels in English explain how things were (or still are) used. Fun photo opportunity. Postcards for sale outside. If you're not fascinated, the ticket won't have cost you much. I love seeing, learning, and photographing, so I had a wonderful time, thanks to our trekking group's guide, Gyanendra Karki, who brought us here during a trek well organized by Adventure Treks Nepal.

Tharu Cultural Museum and Research Center

Reviewed By 370lucief

Very interesting place where you can find more about the Tharu community's history and culture. Daily objects, paintings and explanations are exhibited along with photos. This complete work gives a very rich knowledge about the Tharus. The museum is not only a place where things are showed, it is also a research center where researchers of the whole world come to give their contributions and learn more. It is thus involved in the life of the community and the preservation of its culture. 2 big assets : the persons who work at the museum are very friendly, and for those who want to dig the topic, articles are available :).

I had a full afternoon visit at International Mountain Museum during a cloudy day in Pokhara. It helped me gain essential knowledge about the highest mountains in the world. It also has a general introduction to different ethnic groups in Nepal. Very fruitful visit for me. It attracted not only tourists but also many local people.

Narayanhiti Palace Museum

Reviewed By pranjankumarsil

This palace has a great historic background and sort of relates to the creation of kingdom of nepal. It contains the deepest dark history of the kingdom of Nepal including the royal palace massacre which happened in 2002 . you can also review the old precious artifacts of the kingdom of nepal which according to me is very rare to see around the world , but as in all other museum , no camera's are allowed and one has to pay for a locker to hold them, and it also has entry fees one for only nepalese people and another for foreigners . I will not spell any other facts of it because it is for you to find out , I can assure you that you won't regret after visiting there and is a must visit place for every tourist who are going to Nepal.
