Lough Derg Water Sports is a family run water sports venture basesd on the northwest shores of Lough Derg. We run private bookings for various group sizes, catering for up to 20 paddlers. We also run Summer Camps for kids and Blueway10K Challenge training classes 6 day a week in the summer
Went with my partner at the last minute. We called Becky who explained they were very busy but would do her best to get us in the next day. She rang back as promised and got us in which we really appreciated.
My parter is very experienced when it comes to Kayaking. I am not! I'd done an hour before we went and was somewhat apprehensive... I should've have been.
What a great bloke Reuben is. He kitted us out and we spent threes hours on the lake, it flew by. Played games, explored local nature, had fun and was soaked and shattered by the end but it was the best day of our holiday.
Reuben and Becky are running a great place and I'd highly recommend. They have given me the Kayaking bug and we hope to return next year with me more up to speed!
Thanks guys, it was great.

The Castle is Nenagh's oldest building, and it's construction in the 13th Century laid the foundation for the development of the town. Theobald FitzWalter, whose successors would become Earls and Dukes of Ormond, built the castle and upon its completition c.1220 It served as the main seat of the Butler family, until 1391. The Castle boasts the finest cylindrical keep in Ireland. Like most keeps, it formed part of perimiter of the fortress, being incorporated in the curtain walls surrounding a five-sided courtyard. The Castle has had extensive renovations from 2009 to completion in June 2013. Free admission and free guided tours are available on request. The castle is a medieval building and has a stone spiral stairs to the top. There are 101 steps in all to the top. Access to the tower is through a passageway within the base of the wall. This has low head room and visitors will need to stoop to avoid hitting the stone above. All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Nenagh Castle is open from April to October. Tue-Sat: 10am-1pm, 2pm-4.30Pm Last admission: 3.45 Pm Free guided tours available on request. Average length of visit - 30 min. All groups of 15 or more must pre-book.

While researching my family ancestry in Nenagh I had to stop at Una's, as my surname is Powell aswell. Such a beautiful pub that has stuck with its traditional charm and decor it's like going back in time! James and Marie were very kind hosts and the locals were entertaining :)

New Year's Eve 2014, impromptu singing from Joe, 90 years old. Trio of flautists , mesmerizing . Everyone up Irish dancing, even theCanadian!. Tiny, but 100 percent traditional

Visiting Hanly's is like taking in a big gulp of fresh air - it was one of the high points of our visit to Nenagh. It is so encouraging to see that an Enterprise started in the late 1800's, is continuing production of their precious fabric right into the new millenium.
Many small mills like these have folded from the onslaught of cheaper imports, more's the pity. We were so impressed with both the quality and the variety of the fabric available, from the bright jewel colours of the weaves, to the muted tones of the tweeds.
When these material are crafted into gifts, then that is a double bonus as far as I am concerned.
We were attended to by a charming lady who didn't mind showing us around and gladly answered our questions.
I was also pleased to discover the user-friendly website, which will facilitate online shopping, but I am more than pleased to have had a "real " shopping experience, in a very special place!
By the way, the factory shop is easy to find as it is well signposted!

Have to agree with everything Michelle C said. I would love to see Isla Grant there. She's a super performer and very popular. She's in Ireland next month. Also would love to see more country bands, as their popularity is on the rise, big time. Keep up the good work.
