What an absolute GEM!! I honestly was not expecting the quality of wines I was fortunate to sample (and of course buy) from the South Creek Vineyards & Winery. The Cabernet Franc was amazing and my favorite red (okay- I liked ALL the reds) and my favorite white was the Voignier. Had I been driving back home rather than flying, I can assure you I would have certainly purchased more, but my little suitcase only allowed for so much. However, I intend on joining the wine club which the very sweet owner pointed out to me was an option! I read their description on the website which stated their wines were modeled after the Bordeaux region in France and I admit I was a bit skeptical. I mean, a NC winery in Nebo compared to Bordeaux? Well, I was definitely and deservedly knocked off my French wine snob pedestal by the quality of their wines! The back patio was lovely, shaded, and roomy. There was a very good musician playing and a great little food truck with an owner from- yes- FRANCE!! He offered cheese and charcuterie platters and I can assure you they were also a quality product. Perfect compliment to the wine and a really lovely way to spend an afternoon. I absolutely loved this place and really cannot wait to go back next time I am in NC. If you cannot tell my the tone of this review I get excited about wine and these small, boutique wineries with wonderful, friendly on-site owners and staff are my absolute favorites-it was just such an unexpected treasure and I am still so happy I went there. I would encourage anyone who is considering a vineyard and wine tasting to go here- you will not be disappointed!

Our favorite ‘go to’ hike - never disappoints! This hike is beautiful any time of year. We have done this hike 100+ times and it still feels brand new every time we go. We like to hike it ‘counterclockwise’ - the opposite direction of most hikers. It’s slightly steeper this way, but after we reach Johns Rock, it’s downhill the rest of the way. Hiking clockwise, after reaching the ‘rock’, you still have uphill to climb before the descent ... Just under 6 miles, this is the perfect day hike, perhaps followed by some fly-fishing on the Davidson - or waterfall visits along 276 ... just do it ????

Great place to kayak or just enjoy the quiet. Has several hiking trails. Lake area is clean. During the week it is very quiet and you will practically have the place to yourself
