Part of archbishops' palace . The North African gallery was really an eye opener for us into an unknown art area.

Horreum romain

Reviewed By Archaeobuff - Sydney, Australia

This very well presented Roman warehouse that is now underground is well worth a visit provided you like dark tunnels. This was a lot more complicated than the Horreum at Aosta in Northern italy that was even larger but a lot less interesting. Its construction dates back to the 1st Century BC, and corresponds to a time when Narbonne was a significant Roman town, Narbo Martius. It served as a warehouse for grain, wine and oil, and also to stock weapon because of the military importance of the city at this time.
