If you like Art Deco architecture, you must visit Napier. The town was completely destroyed by an earthquake in 1931, then completely rebuilt in gorgeous Art Deco style. A number of local wineries also offer tours and tastings.

This is a lovely venue. From the lovely chandelier, plush velvet curtains, and comfortable seat, this small movie theatre is a delightful and comfortable. Being able choice from good wine and beer, non-alcoholic drinks and coffee is great. What is delightful is being able to order a platter or pizza and have it delivered to you in the theatre. All that before you even consider the great selection of movie - not mainstream and really good mix. The ticketing is a little slow and there is no real online booking (you can only reserve tickets). But these are minor issues Enjoy and probably best to book early very limited seats

Unlike most skate parks you find, Bay Skate does charge you to use it - I believe it was $8 for our son to go in. Would happily take him back again! Great areas for parents to watch their kids, a really large park and areas for different abilities too which is fantastic! Well maintained and cared for - there is no graffiti and I believe you can hire skateboards and scooters from their store too. Fully fenced which offers a great sense of security too. Our son absolutely loved his time there!

There's a lovely relaxed feel to the Ahuriri village. With an abundance of accomodation options plus quick access to shops, cafes and bars. For families the beach and playground are right there too. Spriggs park has a play area with swings, slides and climbing bars, plus other interesting creations to test the dexterity of young and old alike. There's a large covered picnic table with bench seats, plenty of grass area and a toilet block come changing rooms next to the waterfront restaurant and the regionally famous 'Hot Chick' with built in ice cream parlour. Separating the park area from the ocean is the Rotary Pathway, a seemingly endless walk and cycle track that extends several kilometres along the foreshore in either direction. If you are travelling with young children the park makes Ahuriri a desirable location to stay.
