We visited Basilique Saint Nicolas at weekend afternoon. There are not so many people here. I remember the magnificent moment when the natural light of sunset lights up the whole church.

There is a bar, café, bookshop, Turkish baths and a nightclub in this former biscuit factory. It typifies the spirit of Nantes which is dynamic and unique. If you're in Nantes then definitely have a look.

We had an amazing stay in Nantes and stayed in an apartment right opposite Grue Titan so we became quite fond of it! It does move very slowly so you'll see it facing in different directions and it's lit up at night. The whole area is full of Nantes' ship building history and just around the corner from here are some amazing eating places - many are family friendly. In the other direction you've got the massive mechanical elephant walking around and the Caroussel. There's a lot to do but also lots of space so it doesn't necessarily feel busy. In July and August the Arts Festival takes place all around the city and it is fascinating looking out for all the installations - outside and free to view. Highly recommend Nantes.

First built in 18th century and the fountain was added in 19th century but rebuilt in bronze after the war. The square is surrounded by high end stores and a lovely place to visit.
