This peak can be climbed in less than one hour from Rajgir. There is also a ropeway but that goes to a different nearby hill. It is shaped like a vulture's beak if you see it from a certain angle, hence the name vultures peak The atmosphere at the top is amazing and very conducive to meditation. Many devotees come in the peak season to meditate. There is a small shrine where the buddha used to sit and meditate, on base of the hut on the peak. There is also another ananda hut a little distance away. Below the peak there are ruins of a mauryan era monastery, a few caves notably those of Shariputra and Maudgalanya, lots of Tibetan prayer flags and so on. Those caves are also good for worshipping and meditating. One nice way to gain some merit by cleaning the place, if it is dirty. Some people who come do not know the significance of the place and treat it as a picnic spot, especially in off season. Better to come early in the morning when its cool and easier to climb.

The ruins which were restored by the Archiological society of India in the 1950's depicts our glorious past dating back to the 5th century AD. The artifacts excavated are stored in the Nalanda museum which is opposite the ruins. The university is said to have had 10,000 students and 2,000 teachers. Only a part of the ruins have been escalated. Felt great to be at a place which is so much a part of the history and culture of India.

A place is a heritage which speaks of the glorious history of Natural wealth. Spread out in an area of twenty-two acres, Pandu Pokhar is a truly magnificent example of Great India history dates back to the Mahabharata. It extracts the story of how king Pandu, the father of Pandavas attacked Rajgir or Rajgriha and converted the place into a horse stable. Legends says, that when the king was left with this place, a swale was created and later rain water accumulated in the swale and that is how the historical Pandu Pokhar or pond came into existence. The place is at its best with natural surroundings which unwind and relax the mind of every individual visiting the place.Apart from its natural beauty the place provides activities like boating and many more. the area also inhabits many small rides for the kids. The place by far is an amazing weekend to spend with family or friends.

Do not expect anything very fanciful. This is a calm and clean place. Take the buggy to the lake. When you arrive, sit on the benches and try to appreciate the scenic beauty around. This is a quite a picturesque site, so you might like clicking a few photos. Boating is also a good option, and now there is a Buddha statue in the middle. Advice- this place closes at 3 PM, don't be late.
