Known as the safari capital of Africa, Nairobi is an energetic, modern city that serves as a fascinating introduction to both wildlife and nightlife. Music clubs pulse with life, shops and markets bustle, and a mélange of restaurants will tempt your palate in this former Maasai watering hole. Top sights include the Karen Blixen Museum, Giraffe Centre and the black rhinos of Nairobi National Park. The compact city center is safe to walk in and taxis make other areas accessible.

The Trip is Fun. If you want to just see the turbines, do not go all the way to Corner Baridi, just drive up to the Turbines...But where is the fun in that? Turbines are boring. Go for the Hike. Entrance Fee is KES. 200 per adult head. Do not Bring kids for the hike, you will curse them after the first hill. Carry Snicker Bars and Water, not Soda and Crisps/biscuits. Have Light Sweaters even on a sunny day. It gets quite windy once you get to the Highest Point (hill 4). DO NOT be misled, there are more than 7 Hills and Serious Climbs and Descents. Have light sShoes with good grip and Start off Early. Around 10am is the best time to start the hike when the sun isn't beating down on you too hard. With a good pace and no breaks, it will take you 3 hours from Corner Baridi to The Turbines. There’s no need for armed escort if you are a group of more than 5. Carry loose change to buy beads from local kids and support them. Quite friendly little fellas. If you have vertigo, stick close to your partners, there are some places you will wish you never went for the hike. The Views are breath taking along the way. When Starting off, use the phone masts as markers or targets. There are no directions once you pass the check-in gate. Do not try to use maps me or those fancy hiking apps...waste of phone battery. Speaking of Phones, Carry a Good Camera. There may be Buffaloes along the way but do not stop to ogle at them, they don't like it. Keep Moving. DO NOT LITTER THE FOREST.

The Karura Forest Reserve is an urban upland forest on the outskirts of Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. This remarkable geographical location and natural resource is one of the largest gazetted forests in the world fully within a city limits. It covers an area of about 1,000 ha (2,500 ac) and today is a shining example of how country-based corporate social responsibility and individual philanthropy can serve to secure and protect a country's natural resources. The forest offers eco-friendly opportunities for Kenyans and visitors to enjoy a leafy green respite from the hustle and bustle of the city to walk, to jog, or simply to sit quietly and experience the serenity of nature in all its diversity.
Beautiful forest, quiet and peaceful, with well marked trails, small lakes, a nice waterfall. Ideal to spend time far from the hustle and bustle of the city
