Natural beauty abounds in the state of Uttaranchal's Lake District. Boaters flock to hill-ringed Naini Lake, which according to mythology is one of the emerald eyes of Shiva's wife. A hike or horseback ride to the top of Naina Peak (aka China Peak), the highest point, provides stunning views of the snow-capped Himalayas. To share a prime vantage point with family members of all ages, take the aerial lift up to Snow View; there's also a small marble temple at the top dedicated to Dev Mundi.

You hike through thick pine forest, and its a very relaxed hike, to reach this old temple. Its quiet and peaceful, lets you soak in the divinity and natural beauty around.

The peace & tranquility of this religious place is beyond imagination, The Hills , the fresh water lake, the woods, the narrow lanes, the sounds of birds & animals, fresh thin air which is suppose to have healing properties all around makes this place a true paradise on earth. No TV & No news Paper makes this place even more serene, because you are forced to know yourself & the people around you which otherwise would not have been possible. The boating, Rock climbing & fishing the local fish - Mahseer are the activities for the young. People managing this Ashram are very friendly & helpful.

Excellent scenic view of the lake and Nainital Valley surrounded by the hills. Nainital local authority should construct a proper platform at the location.

Had visited this Bird.sanctuary in March 2018. It's a must visit for any bird lover. Infact Pangot is such a small place, even in the present day that it's does not even have a barber shop in the village. Having said that it has atleast 20 hotels where you can choose to stay. It's a pretty offbeat location. Cellphone connectivity is an issue there, there are no fuel stations. The village has only two grocery shops, if I remember correctly. In short if you are going to Pangot for a birding trip, pack properly. If you forget anything you will not be able to buy a second one at Pangot. The most important thing however, which you should not forget at any cost, is to get your fuel tank filled either at Nainital or at Kaladunghi. And if you are going to Pangot for birding (why else will you go to Pangot? It's famous only for birds) ensure that you book your guide, in advance. Without a proper guide you will be lost in the jungles around Pangot. Lastly while birding is at the heart of Pangot, don't forget you can amazing views of the entire Himalayan range from a point before Cheer Point, from where you can get good landscape shots. And when going for birding carry a super telephoto lens (minimum 400mm) else you will be left wanting for extra reach. Remember birds in this part of the world are small. So they move very fast. Hence click at a high shutterspeed and be very alert. What all this remoteness of the place means that you can still see birds in the pristine forests around Pangot. Also no matter which season you are going, carry warm clothes. Pangot can get really cold. It receives snow in winters. So happy birding.

Hanuman Garhi, a famous Hindu temple of Lord Hanuman, is situated to the south of Tallital, approximately 3.5 km away from the Nainital bus stop. Hanuman Garhi temple is also famous for its strategic location. It is situated at such a height and at such a site, from where the sunrises and sunsets are artistically visible. People who visit Nainital do not miss the opportunity of watching the mesmerizing view of sunset that one can get from this place. Inside the temple, one can see an idol of Lord Hanuman portrayed as splitting his chest and showing that Lord Ram is residing in his heart. Best time to visit Hanuman Garhi is during evening hours, when the sun starts gliding below the horizons, leaving behind hues of orange, which makes the sky look picturesque. The temple attracts the huge crowd on Saturday and Tuesday. Within proximity to the temple are two other prominent attractions, Shitala Devi Temple and Ashram of Lila Sah Bapu. Hanuman Garhi is approximately 3.5 km away from South Tallital Bus Stand and can be reached by car or taxi. Timings: 5 AM - 12 PM and 4 PM - 9 PM
