Not worth it, I'm afraid. Too expensive to get to see just one of the glaciers, the Spegazzini one. (The Upsala glacier can only be seen from afar, as it's deemed too risky to approach). The journey was too long and quite uncomfortable (the ferry I took was the Quo Vadis). Too many people travelling. The ferry was 80% full in Covid times, which I found unsensible and irresponsible. We could not choose where to sit or change seats afterwards. The Spegazzini refuge is partly open. You can take a (rather short) walk in the woods, but the café/restaurant/toilet area is (still) closed and looks quite derelict. I've taken other tours in the area (Perito Moreno Glacier/ Canal Beagle/Full day at Chalten) and they were less expensive, better organised and far more enjoyable than this one.

Did the same trip 5 yrs ago roughly—enjoyed it then & enjoyed it again now with my partner ,who loved it also . Extreme Sur is a very well run professional outfit ,who is very safety conscious & also made the experience fun . The river itself is wonderful ,with grade -3 rapids mainly but Im sure that the river gets a bit harder after some heavy rains . Worst part is claiming the steep hill at the end wearing all the heavy gear . Would recommend this highly & definitely worth doing when in the area .Be aware that it is roughly. Hrs driving each way ,with almost half on rough bumpy dirt roads .

I Do not recommend this company I did a pre-planned day trip of Argentina. It was arranged they pick me up from nearby hotel. I msg to confirm and they changed the plans and I had to meet there which wasn’t Easy to find. I attempted many times to contact them via the phone numbers they provided and concierge also attempted, but they never responded. Then I only got half the tour. Try other more reliable and reputable companies.

8. Bariloche: Exploration Arm Sadness - Navigation with lunch

Azul Latina

Among the innumerable options that the Nahuel Huapi National Park offers, there is a little-known route but no less spectacular for that. From Bahía López, 25 km from Bariloche, you can get to the Brazo Tristeza by motor boat. There, if the day is clear, you can see the glaciers at the top of Cerro Tronador, the highest in the park. When we reach the end of this Arm, we descend to land to walk a path through a dense forest, in which species known as the coihue and the cane alternate. Then we arrive at the Frey Stream Cascade. The flow of this stream varies according to the time of year, producing a peculiar and characteristic sound, which is generated when the water runs between wells, on a bed of rock polished by years of erosion.

Inclusions: Pick up hotels located in downtown Bariloche, Navigation through El Brazo Tristeza is a deep glacial fjord of Lake Nahuel Huapi, Coffee and lunch, Once we reach the bottom of the arm, disembark and walk to the Arroyo Frey waterfall., Then we arrive at the Frey Stream Cascade.

Exclusions: Boarding fee

9. Bariloche: Fly Fishing in Private

Azul Latina

In our rivers and lakes live large specimens famous for their fighting spirit. Based on the city of San Carlos de Bariloche, we do fishing floats in the Limay rivers. It is located 65 km from the city in the heart of the Nahuel Huapi National Park, the stretch we float covers from Lake Steffen, to the confluence with the Villegas river. In this section the river runs away from roads and the only way to fish it completely is by floating, this situation gives us the possibility of accessing places with little pressure and with very good performance, the landscape that surrounds the river is Andean forest. Patagonian composed of Coihues, Ñires, Lengas and Radales, the dense vegetation reflects in the crystalline waters giving it an emerald green color. The Manso has small rapids that make the float more entertaining and dynamic.

Inclusions: Snacks, Fishing equipment, Private guide, Pick up and drop off hotels

Exclusions: Gratuities
