The museum is on way to Chamundi hills. Plan to spend around an hour here. Photography is allowed. Three sculptures made completely from sea shells is a must see- The Taj, Ganesh statue and Model of Philomena cathedral. On display are flowers made from kitchen discards like garlic flakes and onion skin. A small souvenir shop sells items made from shells at a very reasonable price

This gallery on Platform-1 of the Mysuru railway station has a nice working railway diorama showing various locomotives working. There is also a realistic scale model of the railway station. There are nice photographs showing the steam meter gauge era of the Mysore railways. You can club this visit along with visiting the railway museum which is located on the other side near platform no-6

I am one among the millions of fans of R K Narayan. My dream came true to visit his house. Simple independent house with garden and hall, bedrooms, kitchen, dining, upper level. The house has cool red oxide flooring, which made me nostalgic, as the house, I grew up also had red oxide flooring. The house furnitures are very simple. It conveys the simplistic life of R K Narayan. Happy to see the bookshelf. The house is decorated with lots of his quotations. It tells me that a writer is made not by surroundings, but from his mind. R K Narayan has made wonderful works from this house. Happy that government has taken over the house and maintaining it well. The admission is free. Government can have a theater here to show documentary about RK Narayan and also sell his books at discounted rate for next generation. Must visit for every reader, be it English or any language.

WHAT THEHEEBEE SAYS ABOUT MELODY WAX MUSEUM Before I share my experience, I want to recollect few words - "beautiful", "proud", "amazing skills", "rich heritage", "salute". These are the feeling with which I came out after a detailed visit to Melody Wax Museum. I leave it to my readers if you still want to read the review further, or just want to visit and experience. Having said that, let me share some more details about my experience at Melody Wax Museum. This is a delayed post. I visited Melody Wax Museum before the Corona pandemic and lock-down. Please stay at home and stay safe this till these bad times are over. This is a beautiful wax statue and musical instruments' museum housed in a cozy 100 year old private house at Mysuru. The museum is setup and maintained without any government aid my its owners - Mr and Mrs Mahesh Urs. Museum displays more than 1200 different musical instruments collected my the Mr and Mrs Urs for over 15 years. The collection of musical instruments include modern, traditional, community ingenious and some extremely rare musical instruments - all maintained very well and in working condition. Wax museum is sponsored and owned by Mr Shreeji Bhaskaran who has made wax statues by himself and making of wax statues is his hobby. Wax statues include delicately created life-size statues of famous personalities and community setups depicting lifestyles of communities. Whole museum and its collection is amazing. For any visitor, it will give a beautiful walk through the rich heritage and culture. This is particularly important to be visited by children who would get loads of knowledge by visiting through every corner of this museum. I wholeheartedly express my gratitude to Mr and Mrs Mahesh Urs and Mr Shreeji Bhaskaran for making their hobby public and giving an opportunity to everyone to admire the rich heritage and culture.
