Muskegon, Michigan, built on the fur and lumber trade, is now a calm vacation spot on Lake Michigan, calling itself "The Riviera of the Midwest." Sunbathe on several beautiful beaches along Lake Michigan, including Pere Marquette Beach, a certified Great Lakes "clean beach." Muskegon State Park provides hiking and camping opportunities in the summer, and ice skating, cross-country skiing and even a luge track in the winter. The city is also home to Michigan's Adventure Amusement Park.

I stayed for business in Muskegon in March 2017. After my classes, I decided to visit the park as I haven't seen this area of Lake Michigan. It was a very windy day, winds of over 80 MPH, which provided very cool waves. Even though it was freezing out I was able to watch from my vehicle men surfing and wind surfing, which I really enjoyed. It was really entertaining. Plus the sun setting behind the lighthouse was breath-taking.
The visit was free and no charge to park. Lots of people there, but plenty of parking. Overall really nice time, even in March.

Kangaroo palace is a locally owned and operated family entertainment and birthday party center. Our facility is filled with oversized inflatable obstacle course, slides, and bounce houses, as well as a treefort, teeter totter, arcade games and more! Parents are welcome to join in the fun, but a seating area and free wifi is provided for those just looking to observe. We have got something here for ALL ages! Socks are required for anyone looking to play OR observe. Don't forget your cameras or wireless devices!
The Kangaroo Palace is a place we like to take our grandchildren (5 & 8 years old) to run and bounce and slide on a nice variety of inflated equipment. $6.00 an hour per child brings us an hour of pleasure as we watch our kiddos laugh and play together, as well as with other young visitors on equipment that appears safe and well-maintained. It's a great place for birthday parties because there is a nice party room and the employees are pleasant and promote/monitor safe playing. While the optimum age of the players/bouncers is probably 3-13, I have seen young parents bouncing with their kiddos.
Whether the outdoor temperature is hot or cold, Kangaroo Palace is always a perfect climate for a safe and fun time for kids.

The park is clean and paved, even some of the walking trails along Duck Lake are paved. Duck Lake has a channel that feeds into Lake Michigan. Cross the street, N Scenic Dr, to get to the beach fronting Lake Michigan. The is a fantastic beach with really big sand dunes. This is very popular in warm weather, although not as busy in early April. There is free parking along the road (on one side only!) if you want to just stop and walk the beach without paying Park entrance fees. This is close to Whitehall and White Lake.

Enjoy a tour set at your own pace. Lots of memorabilia on board. Allow about an hour and a half to tour the entire ship. You need to be able to climb ladders to really enjoy the tour.

My husband and I went on a tour of the submarine with one of the docents, and we still learned a lot even though we have been on a few other submarine tours. The tour lasted for about an hour, so go to the bathroom first and bring a bottle of water! Afterwards, we toured a Coast Guard boat on our own and then went to the museum. If you are interested in WWII, you will enjoy this museum. I especially like the very detailed timeline of the entire war.

This is a wonderful place to hike and just fill that need to be near the water....what a gem Lake Michigan is. Hoffmaster has wonderful hiking trails and an amazing beach. As an amateur photographer I prefer to hike when no one is around so even in the off season and when its cold, this is a beautiful place

The Hackley and Hume Historic Site features the restored homes of Muskegon's most well-known lumber barons with outstanding wood carving, stained glass windows, and period furnishings. A guided tour of the homes offers visitors a look at life in the late 1800s and early 1900s. During the summer months, there are often games on the lawn for our young visitors. The Site is open from May to October.
Charles Hackley and Thomas Hume were two of the founding fathers of modern Muskegon. Both making tremendous fortunes in the lumber business, and being good friends, they built side by side homes. They even share a common barn between them. While the homes fell into...MoreSo nice to hear that you had an opportunity to tour our sites. Thank you for visiting!

This State Park offers a variety of winter recreation including ice skating, cross-country skiing and luge.
Not happy with the staff and their attitude. They should have a rules and regulations up not being rude to somebody that's lives in Muskegon and just wanted to go out drive back to the channel point and take some pictures of Muskegon Lake in the channel. Sure I can park and walk back there but with my ( bum foot & bad ankle ) it's going to be difficult and I don't have my wheelchair with me. But the attendant was very rude we have our rules.

We were able to visit the Native American photographic exhibit and marveled at the scope and depth of the collection. Additionally we visited the permanent collection and were amazed at the quality and scope of the presentation. The Native American exhibit is closing this week-end, but the permanent collection, while small, is worth seeing on its own.

Classic amusement park combined with a water park and Boogie Beach wave pool.
I adore Michigan Adventures! It's a great place for the whole family! You can experience everything from rollercoasters to carousels! Your admission even includes the water park! We love the water slides and the family ride on the big inner tube! Great value, great adventure!
