This place looks like something you’d see in a travel magazine. It’s a great place to fish, hike, canoe, etc and enjoy the beautiful scenery. One of the most serene places in all of California.

Wow! What a majestic mountain! The snowcaps, cloud and cloudless covers (depending on the time of year, the weather & time of day), views are all majestic! The drive from north-south has the more impressive sights from I-5...especially when you come around the curve in the road!

Lake Siskiyou

The lake itself is fabulous, to avoid crowds, limit time at the Siskiyou camp, unfortunately the only place to rent kayaks or paddle boards. The beach gets super crowded with families, grab your kayak and head out in the AM and then spend time on one of the state beaches instead of on their beach.

Mount Shasta City Park

Our little girl loves the playground here. Was begging every day to go back and meet new little friends. The water from the headwaters of the Sacramento are the best I've tasted in my life! Nice big grassy area to practice yoga or play frisbee while the kids play. And some picnic tables and such to eat. Great with small kids. Have to watch them as you do at all parks, there is many different walks of life there doing their thing, but the vibes are really good and it's an awesome park.

Castle Lake

Reviewed By 107geoffm

Short 7 mile drive from main road to Castle Lake. Road paved to the lake including parking area. Easy trail around the lake with numerous spots along the trail for swimming or wading in the lake to cool off. There are not any large areas around the lake (except for one area near the parking lot with a picnic table) for groups to gather, picnic, hang out for the day. This lake is great for scenic easy hike around the lake.

This ski resort is very family friendly and the lift tickets are far cheaper than in Tahoe. The lift lines are also shorter!
