Scenic park overlooking the Susquehanna River.
We enjoyed hiking and walking around this beautiful area along the Susquehanna River. Chickies Rock overlook offers great views from high above the river. You can also park at the Breezyview Overlook and hike down to the Heritage Trail, which is a paved trail that has some historical markers and a few ruins relating to the iron industry of the mid-19th to early-20th century in the area.

Nissley Winery has a nice selection of both red & white wines as well as a few rose'. They range from dry to sweet with numerous choices. My favorites are their dry reds as well as their semi-dry Naughty Merieta. The venue is a grand...MoreThanks so much for your kind words! We are glad you had a good time here and enjoyed our property, and the wines. Oh, and there is really space for about 3000 people :)

This trail is pleasant for kids, and popular with cyclists. The beginning point for us was Route 743. Parking along this road is a bit sketchy, because cars speed past. The trail itself is well-maintained and consists of finely crushed gravel, which is great for jogging, walking, and hybrid/mountain biking. As the spring where is on into summer, the trail only gets better. Recommended.

It wasn't as good as I thought it would be, but it was cold and rainy. Most booths outside were closed. The inside had a lot of food stands and meat stands. I wasn't impressed with the prices on some things. I prefer to go to Shrewsburys Amish Market and The Green Dragon.

We had company visit from Brooklyn. They had a toddler so we decided to visit the Alpaca Farm. It was packed with people as it was an open house day. It was a great little treat and we all enjoyed it.

Some friends and I came to Lancaster just for Field of Screams, and it was well worth it. For $33 you can get a pass for all four haunted attractions and it is well worth it. The four attractions are the Hayride, 2 haunted houses, and a haunted forest. The Hayride is by far the least scary/best for children if you are bringing them. The other 3 can be quite intense, especially because you are walking rather than sitting.
I recommend getting there right at sun down, or a little before. the parking is free, but fills up quickly and the lines can get really long. But the atmosphere is really cool and there are lots of things to do in between haunted attractions.

This winery is also home to a theater group, Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire's Acting Company, which puts on performances regularly.
We enjoyed the historical part of the Renaissance Faire the most. Highlights for us included the drama of the King/Queen at start of day, the Royal Falcons exhibit (aviary), the archery demonstration (very knowledgeable), the umbrella/walking stick vendor, the jousting, the fire/whip Bonk man, the German musicians, the strings musicians in Pastimes, the artillery, scenery and all the actors and actresses! We enjoyed it very much. I would try to attend on non-Halloween weekend in future since many of the costumes were not Renaissance related. I didn't care for the occult influence (tarrot card reader). Water fountains would be helpful too. Bakery far too crowded and should have a larger venue. Bees were a nuisance. Overall a great day and plenty to do and see. I would recommend you try this event!

While visiting Lancaster County we took a trip to the Wright;s Ferry Mansion in Columbia, Pa. It does not appear to be a mansion in the conventional sense. It is however, a very sturdy, well-maintained pre-revolutionary structure tucked away on a somewhat secluded residential street. Its history and the history of its primary resident, Susanna Wright, is very interesting. The home is basically intact from its original construction. It is filled with period items that make the description of each room almost come to life. This is primarily due to the guide-Elizabeth. She is extremely knowledgeable on all facets of the home, Miss Wright, and early American living in general. Her enthusiasm and love for her job made the difference in the tour. This home is well worth visiting.

Another trail stop. The location is beautiful, but I think they overbooked. They had a wedding going at the same time as the wine trail. The parking was just not designed to handle this kind of volume traffic.
The staff were very friendly and helpful; there was a nice indoor seating area for cooler weather and a large, open deck area for warmer weather. They had a nice phot-op set up with an arch on the deck and the vineyard in the background.
They had several nice wines and a fairly good list of choices to satisfy almost any palette. A little bit of a drive to find, but it was beautiful country scenery.

Escape a magnificent Victorian era 1875 bank. Up to 10 players per room may collaborate to reveal secrets, interact with vintage technology, find treasure, and challenge their wits. Free parking in the rear of our building. Spend time in historic Marietta, PA on our river trail, at a pub, or walking our town where over 50% of our buildings are on the National Historic Register.
This was so interesting and fun, we had such a great time finding money and getting the gold! I can't wait until Steve creates a few more!
