Kilsby Sinkhole

Located on private property 10 kilometres south-west of Mount Gambier in South Australia, Kilsby Sinkhole is only accessible via prior bookings, achievable online or by phone. Renowned worldwide for its crystal clear water and extensive open caverns, Kilsby Sinkhole is the only site of its kind in Australia that welcomes snorkellers and Open Water certified divers, through to those with Cave or Technical dive training. Snorkellers, Freedivers and Open Water divers must be guided by an approved Dive Instructor. With a depth of almost 30 metres directly from the pontoon, the site is a perfect location for freediving and training camps are regularly held onsite. Kilsby Sinkhole also has an interesting history due to its use as a top-secret space for weapons research in the 1970's, resulting in a range of infrastructure being developed at the site, some of which is still present. An onsite museum space is currently in development which tells the story of this unique site.
