The Essendon Community Playground is fun for kids, especially those 5 to 13. It will keep kids occupited for several hours, there is lots to do. The playground was built through a community effort, mainly with volunteer labour. The name "Victory Park" comes from the war memorial, which was unveiled in 1922 by Brigadier General "Pompey" Eliott, a local man who gained fame through his exploits in World War I. Since then, a plaque has been added to commemorate Australian men and women who served in all wars and conflicts. Children from nearby schools can be seen participating in ANZAC commemotation services. By the way, there's a BBQ, and gazebo in the park, and a supermarket nearby.

L T Thompson Reserve is on Keilor Road, a busy street that hosts the 59 Tram. Recently two groves of trees have been planted, which will add to the park's amenity. Sadly, few people play cricket these days, so having a large area devoted to a dying pastime doesn't make much sense. The pegola and the shelter shed are both welcome, as is the BBQ. It's a big park, there's still ample room to kick a ball. There's also a playground. By the way, Louis Tobias Thompson was a long-serving local councilor.

We recently visited iFLY and got the family package with our two kids who are 5 and 7 years old. It was such an incredible and unique experience. The staff are fantastic, especially with the kids. From the very start with the training, to when you are actually in the wind tunnel. A special thanks to May our instructor, who was amazing. The highflight was definitely a highlight, so I am happy we got that! The kids can't stop talking about it. We just booked a return flight package which is great value at almost half the price! Can't wait to go back!

All the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. I had 6 boys with me aged 7 to 13 and they all had the most wonderful time. It’s a great way for the youngsters to burn off some energy as well as getting the teens off technology!! Highly recommend a visit!

The Black Sapphire Pirate Ship will interest kids of all ages, they can't resist the lure of the pirate ship. There's lots of things to do, and lots of nooks and crannies to explore.. In addition, there's a more conventional playground that the littlies find attractive. The playground is on the banks of the Maribyrnong River, there's also a BBQ and picnic tables, plus a convenient automatic toilet. It's a popular place when the warm weather returns.

Fairbairn Park hosts a variety of sports, including a number of soccer pitches. The tennis and netball courts are being upgraded. It's a big park, which fits into a bend in the river. It has tables and benches. Unless you are into sport, there is really not much to see, but the golf course has a pleasant café with a good view of the links. There's also a driving range, which is popular with golfers.

Montgpmery Park is a large park,. It has several BBQs and many picnic tables. The long slide will suit active older children, as will the various playgrounds. The basketball half court offers the prospect of pick-up games after hours. The single cricket net looks sad. Montgomery Park is large, but there is not much in the way of sports grounds. The trees are mainly natives. A few points to note: there is an automatic toilet, which is well maitained, and aslo a water fountain. The Montgomery Park Kindergarten can be entered from Hilda St.

We started off in Puckle Street, Moonee Ponds and walked down through Maribyrnong Park. We took the pedestrian bridge over the Maribyrnong River, watching out for the cyclists. We took a gravel path up the hill and arrived at the front of HIghpoint Shopping Centre, the heart of the West. We then walked over to Bunnings, to buy some harfware. We decided against retracing our steps to Puckle Street, as the walk had taken over two hours, so we took the 82 Tram to Moonee :Ponds Junction., The trip back took us around 20 minutes all up. We had a nice walk and saw some interesting sights.
