The Union Hotel is a venue full of surprises. Built in 1878, the Heritage-listed prominent corner hotel has always been a popular place to catch up with friends. Located in the heart of the Melbourne Racing precinct, the venue comprises several large and spacious areas catering from the individual all the way up to bookings of 150 or more. From The Bistro Bar, serving lunch and dinner seven days a week, to The Locals Bar, where you can have a punt, or chat with a local expert, there's a place for everyone. And then there's The Other Bar, a room to step up in sophistication, and try the exotic things in life, like a special cocktail, or a fine wine. Then there is the indoor/outdoor Beer Garden with a retractable roof, where it's party time 12 months a year. In for a quick bite, or settling in for the night? The Union Hotel is renowned locally for its quality meals. Catering for groups of varying sizes, the Union's Bistro Bar is versatile and welcoming. Take a seat in front of the Big Screen TVs with your mates to watch the best LIVE sporting action brought to you by Fox Sports HD. Or be one with nature and eat al fresco in the cozy Beer Garden out back. When the weather is good, a large retractable roof can open, offering more room to enjoy a beer or a meal in beautiful sunlight and fresh air. Everyone is an expert in The Locals Bar. The only thing taller than the stories is the ceiling, but not by much. It contains a busy TAB, in the heart of Melbourne's racing precinct, nestled midway between the famous Flemington and Moonee Valley Race Courses. Keep an ear our and you just might hear a 'special' tip. Live sports on the big screens, Keno, and a pool table and dartboard give plenty of options to the 'punter'. The latest incarnation at The Union Hotel is simply known as The Other Bar. A stunning architecturally designed bar is the centrepiece in the room of decadence. Try one of the house cocktails, or peruse the carefully tailored wine list for that special drop. With 10 beers on tap, a Pinchos menu, mood lighting and DJs playing late into the night, it's a one-stop destination point for those looking for a good night close to home.

The Linc is recovering from the corona virus shutdown. The dining room is in demand -- be sure to book in advance, only 20 diners are allowed at one time, due to social disgtancing requirements. The menu is excellent, better than average pub food, and the dining room is nicely set up, with crisp white tablecloths and fine cutlery. It's good to see that the Linc is back in business after an unwelcome break. .
