This place is fantastic. Have heard so many friends going over the years so I had to finally try it out. Have gone 3 times in the past 4 months. The wine and cider is excellent. The woodfired pizza served by Pizza Brahma is terrific, the atmosphere is charming, ample seating and a beautiful setting. Poolesville‘s gem for sure!????????

We have been seeking a local winery since our previous favorite was acquired by new owners. After two visits and a tour, we are convinced that the excellent location, wines, and attitude / knowledge exhibited by staff make this a phenomenal place to become our new favorite.

The Winery at Olney

There were not many people at this wine tasting room at 11:15 on a Thursday morning. In fact, we were the only two people there. But we had a great time talking with the lady pourer....sipping the wines (5 tastings for $8)....learning all about the winery itself....and finding out that all fruit wines are NOT simply "fruity." The Peach Chardonnay, which is their award-winner, had definite peach overtones but it did not take away from the grapes. It went down smoothly! We also liked the Cranberry Shiraz and the Acai Raspberry Cabernet Sauvignon. Favorite samplings from the non-fruit wines: Muller Thurgan Stone House White, Pinot Noir (N. Brothers), and the White Merlot. About the only wine we didn't care for was a dessert wine, the Raspberry Chocolate....it was too heavy and too chocolately (surprising for a chocoholic like me.) We bought 6 bottles of wine (20% discount with the purchase of 6) for a total of approximately $129....and went merrily on our way. A delightful way to spend an hour or so.
