I had no idea what to expect. A lovingly converted barn outside - is a cave of tons of Polish salt and extreme comfort inside. The owners are warm and very informative. The cave itself is quiet, refreshing (my friend fell asleep) and kept at a cave-chill temperature. Perfect for a Vermont hot summer day. And the healing power of salt? There is no hocus-pocus here. Me and my family and friends walked out after our 45 minutes of cave comfort feeling happy and yes, chill.

Dog sledding with Keith was an amazing experience. This wasn't just some random tourist experience, it was an opportunity of a lifetime. They let us into their family and I believe that created a very authentic experience for us. We did an overnight camping trip and it was such a blast. The food was amazing, the dogs were amazing, the setting was amazing. I just can't say enough about how great the experience was.
If you're on the fence about whether or not to do this: just do it! I promise you won't regret it.

Air temperature was comfortably warm, water temp not too bad. Beware you do need to pay for locker rentals if you want to keep phones/wallets safe. Slides were fun for kids, line ups weren't too bad when we were there. Big area of concern though: Shuttle pick ups didn't happen often. We went to the waterpark every day and got lucky once with getting right on a shuttle when we walked out. The other times were close to an hour each time standing in the cold outside on the side of the road. You can't wait inside, because then you're stuck at the back of the line when the shuttle appears and the shuttles are often so full that you can't get on and have to wait for the next one. So, if you waited inside you'd forever be not getting on the shuttle. Bring warm clothes to wait in, and plan your time accordingly (bring snacks for the lineup if you have kids). It would be nice to say you could drive to the waterpark instead, but the interior roads of the resort were almost never cleared, so people were getting stuck when they tried to drive places.

Cold Hollow Sculpture Park is a 200 acre farm that showcases the work of artist David Stromeyer. Open Thursdays-Sundays Noon-6PM, June 25-October 10, 2016. More: Cold Hollow Sculpture Park offers visitors an opportunity to stroll five, rolling meadows on which are sited some fifty large-scale sculptures representing selected examples from four decades of work by nationally-known artist, David Stromeyer. Inspired by the rhythms, forms, patterns, and undulations of the Vermont landscape and committed to integrating his sculptures with the landscape, Stromeyer and his wife, Sarah, welcome all who wish to experience these works in their quiet, contemplative Cold Hollow setting.
We visited this site based on previous reviews and it was worth the trip. The rolling fields are a perfect backdrop for these massive colorful sculptures. The artist supplied a brochure with the names and thought process that influenced the sculptures but we had fun with our own interpretations; flights of fancy, dance, waves, industrial and Native American influences were some of our interpretations. Take a few hours to stroll this lovely site and enjoy nature and art.
The grass may be wet from the morning dew so wear appropriate footgear. Bring a picnic and of course water, sunscreen and bug spray according to the season. Site is best for adults, art students and nature lovers.

We own a small bed and breakfast in montgomery center in Vermont, and we send ALL of our guests to this wonderful shop located right on main street. They have tons of small gifts and souvenirs, all made locally right here in Vermont, and it is a wonderful way to learn about our many small local farmers who raise animals for their wool and fiber. Montgomery itself has several cute bed and breakfasts, restaurants, and is right next to Jay Peak ski resort so it makes a perfect base for exploring all that Northern Vermont has to offer. If you get a chance to visit, make sure you go to this shop. It is a real gem!! Jay Kerch

I have been to Jay before but it has been such a long time (February 2001) that the changes were remarkable. First what hasn’t changed. The mountain is still steep, snowy and has the best in bound tree skiing in Vermont. The lifts are a bit on the old side but fully functional and since the crowds don’t get here that often, you will get in all the skiing you want. What has changed is the base area. The old Hotel Jay has been replaced by a new building with several restaurants, a climbing gym, and a pretty large indoor water park. In addition to that are several more accommodation choices like the Tram Haus Lodge and lots of condos. Base lodges have been upgraded but the original funky vibe is still here. You can ski some of the bigger resorts and they are fine, but Jay has a small mountain vibe but ski is like a giant.

Remember the show Northern Exposure? On the show they had the pinnacle of the town's social scene, The Brick. The Shoe is a blend of locals, Canadians, tourists, skiers and the wayward traveler. Great beer selection, great pub food, friendly bar tenders and great ambiance. They often have live music, different weekly specials like $6 pitcher night and 50 cent wings with free pool. The Shoe is also great for people watching.

It is a small waterpark compared to others. We have been to Great Wolf Lodge and Niagara Water Parks, Canada's Wonderland and all are much larger water park that this one. It has only 4 large slides, there is a surfing area and a lay river. There are body 2 slides and 2 tube slides and that is it.They have hot tubs all together but enough space. That is it for the park, not a lot of ways to keep kids entertained. For a simple vacation, it is agood place to go but if you want challenging slides or various options etc this is not it. Outside of that, it is in a isolated area so for breakfast lunch and dinner, you are kind of a prisonerr of this lodge. Nearest town is more than 30 minutes drive for restaurants. We went in the summer for the waterparks so the restuarants onsite are either closed or if open then the menu is very limited and pricy as well. There is a pizza place and a restaurant and a variety store. We got a groupon deal for 4 for $199 a night with waterpark and hotel.
The hotel chalets are individual mini houses but odd design, the bedroom is downstairs but washrooms are upstairs so in the middle of the night, you need to up stairs for the washroom. Not ideal. There is a full kitchen, TV and pull out sofa upstairs.

Passageway through the mountains with fabulous fall foliage.
This is a very beautiful narrow winding road through the notch. beautiful farm country sides at each end of the notch before entering the higher elevations. Up in the notch, nice waterfalls and deep forest. Shady and cool even on the hottest days.
