We went exploring the MN Valley River Road and found this lovely outdoor museum. It's a large lot with multiple buildings set up like a small town from the mid 1800s to maybe the 1940s. There's a barber shop, law office, firehouse, church, school, and so many others. Most of the buildings are authentic old buildings that they moved to this location. You can go inside every single structure, and it's just like going back into time. They're all fully decorated with items of that time, they even smell old. Just an amazing experience. Bring the kids and they can ring the school bell and the fire station bell.

We stopped into the brewery on a rainy afternoon and were pleasantly surprised by the operations. A newly opened brewery right on main street Monte. They had a wide variety of beer to taste by the flight or a glass. Free popcorn! The tap room had a nice feel with remodeling that was recently completed prior to opening. There was a large mural on one wall and barn siding on the other. Both tables and high tops to sit and enjoy a conversation, Many of the locals we saw were taking advantage of Jakes Pizza next door to deliver food for the evening with friends and a cold one.

Nice riverside park and campground. Destination for senior and family pictures. The new rapids which replaced the old WPA dam are fun and allow longer, uninterrupted canoe and kayak treks from upstream. It's a very pleasant, quick paddle from here to the next public water access.

As an out-of-towner, my brother brought me here but enjoyed taking pictures all over. Especially enjoyed the steam engine and sawmill area. Loved the farmhouse furnishings with the Lefse makers inside serving a taste or two. The hotdog and hamburger lunch plates were delicious. Noticed the kids enjoyed the mini train rides and real metal jail houses to play in & around.

Last year in the Fall we went to Montevideo and we happen to come across this interesting place - Milwaukee Road Heritage Center, My hubby and I stopped in it intrigued us. His father used to work for the Milwaukee Road for many years and retired from the railroad. My husband used to ride on the train with his dad, he was an engineer. His love of trains has continued and we had a great time looking through this place. There was a gentleman who happen to be in and he took the time and gave us a self guided tour and shared alot about this place and what they were hoping to do in the upcoming year. It is a neat place to stop in especially if you have a child or an adult who has a love of trains. We will sure stop in again. Thank you for the great tour and interesting conversation.
