We arrived at the parking lot by 9 am. The sky was starting to clear up. The weather was perfect for the hike. We went up the North Loop to reach the Look out point from the west side. The fall colour was about 70 % red with some fallen leaves on the ground. It made a good photo. We hiked down from the look out point to reach the Jacob's ladder. 30 years ago, we used to climb back up from the Rocky hole to get back to the main road. Now it is all blocked. It is still worth taking the stairs down to see the rock formation. It was a very pleasant hike, Mono Cliffs is still my favorite place for short Fall hike.

I cannot sing loudly enough my praise for the level of service and hospitality we have experienced at Hockley Valley, the curtesy, understanding and kindness their staff have extended too us… So the story- My lady and I had planned to be married in sept 2020 – Hurray!… We looked at a variety of locations for the event and were swept off our feet by Hockley Valley. Then (sorry to be redundant) Covid happened. The team at Hockley worked with us to move our date to 2021, and even allowed us to postpone further deposits for our comfort, and ease of mind. I work as a bartender (*worked) in an upscale restaurant, I have first-hand experience of the financial devastation that Covid is wreaking on staff and owners of restaurants, bars, hotels, and event venues (I know countless others industries have suffered too). So as my savings slowly depleted (currently feb 2021, 11 months after I was first laid off with a brief 2.5 months back working during summer months) my lady and I made the difficult decision (made a little easier by the need to pay rent) to cancel the wedding party. Again Hockley Valley handled our cancelation with style, grace, and dignity. I have rarely been so damn impressed with a company’s values, and its teams’ ability to uphold them. Thanks especially to the events team, and when we are back on top we will toast our love with you. All the stars.
