Every neighborhood in San Francisco has its own personality, from the hippie chic of the Upper Haight to the hipster grit of the Mission. The Marina district boasts trendy bistros and postcard-perfect views of the Golden Gate Bridge, while Noe Valley offers quaint and quiet boutiques. Wave hello to the sea lions at Pier 39, and sample local cheese and charcuterie at the Ferry Building. Sit in on a yoga session in Dolores Park or marvel at the Dutch Windmill across from Ocean Beach.

Celebrating its 15th year in business as Elixir, and its 160th year of service in San Francisco, Elixir is a testament to the storied saloon history of the wildest of Wild West towns. H. Joseph Ehrmann is the twelfth proprietor since 1858, having lovingly restored its Victorian bones in 2003 and bringing the bar to international renown while playing a significant role in the revival of cocktail culture in the early 2000s. Today it boasts one of the best whiskey collections in the country and 365 days of service, never closing to the public for private events. As Ehrmann continues to invest in historic research and physical restoration, the saloon is poised to continue serving San Francisco, and the world, for generations to come.
Great bourbon selection. Nice people. Ask for Dan. Sign up for the email for the Whiskey club! Great neighborhood bar. When I get to San Francisco this is a must stop
