The pristine whitewater of Coachable Creek and the mighty Tully River have only been paddled by a few in sports rafts, so join the team from Wildside and feel the intimacy of nature and the thrills of adventure. John and his team at Mission Link are a first class operation from Cairns airport to Mission Beach. They are very accomodating and the 'door to door' service was excellent. The staff were friendly and very knowledgeable on all things in the Mission area and offered good feedback on places to eat........they were right on the money. The bus is clean, fresh smelling and most of all, nice and cool, making the trip very pleasant. What was pleasing is the cost of a return trip to Cairns airport is relatively inexpensive and would work out less than one day car hire. For anyone visiting the area, I would highly recommend using Mission Link. Thanks John!

Michelle was lovely and helped us with cassowary spotting advice. We followed her map and enjoyed the 2 recommended walks. Still no cassowaries but we loved the forest anyway.

At Charley's is a you'll experience chocolate from cocoa tree to chocolate bar. Learn about the history of the food of the gods. See cocoa trees growing in the plantation, spot the orchid like flowers and see pods ripening. The 13 stages from harvest to chocolate bar are demonstrated with lots of tastings (of course) Lunch is included. If you like chocolate you have to do this tour!
Booked this at the last minute and turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip to mission beach. Very interesting learning about the farm to bar production process and seeing and tasting chocolate from end to end. It’s a small operation so don’t expect a slick polished factory which is part of the charm. Definitely worth a visit.

Walking trail in South Mission beach open to the public
The walk leaves from the southern end of South Mission, near the boat ramp. There are some rubbish bins and a toilet there, but didn’t see any water. The full track to Kennedy Bay is signed as 8km and 1h 55m. With a few stops along the way, that was pretty close. For those that want something shorter, you can turn around at any time. The track is made up of boardwalks, steps, rocks, roots, mangroves and beach. The track builders have done a great job and I echo the suggestion of other reviewers to do the walk at, or near, low tide. I was even lucky enough to have a Cassowary greet me at Turtle Bay, no turtles though. PS......take heavy duty insect spray as the mozzies were thick at places like Miji Creek ????❌
