The small group escorted tour was a revelation. The dedicated docents presented a heartfelt and honest explanation of the church, the artist and the murals, readily admitting the gaps in the story of this microcosm of America’s immigrant experience and the real effects of war on people across the globe. The story of the murals, with their social, cultural and religious commentary, is far more than a visual experience, and the efforts of the community to preserve and expand their exposure is testament to the lasting impact of Vanko’s art. A truly unique Pittsburgh attraction.

LumberjAxes is Pittsburgh’s first competitive axe-throwing venue. Yes, competitive axe- throwing is a thing. It’s huge in Canada. At our rustic warehouse in Millvale, adults of all skill levels can try their hand at it. You and your friends, coworkers, or wedding party get a lane and take turns throwing at a target. It’s sort of like bowling, but without the silly shoes. And with way more axes.
We do an annual team retreat activity at work and so as 8 women we went to LumberjAxes. We span the gamut of ultra prissy to outdoorsy as a group and everyone of us had a blast and we have already planned a return trip but with our spouses too. The building is nondescript but there is plenty of local parking. The interior is hipster lumberjack as advertised. They set us up with a great coach: Zeus, who stayed with us the entire 2 hours and taught us how to throw, coached us in improving and kept score as we fought to a final winner. They also appear to serve food and drinks including adult beverages but we did not partake. There are clean restrooms and a drinking fountain. It was very much set up like a bowling alley so multiple lanes are all next to each other. We had an amazing time and can't wait to go back.

We are an 800 capacity multi purpose entertainment complex located in a re-purposed 19th century church. For the past 15 years we have hosted a wide variety of national and international performers of every genre.
We came here for the first time in November to see a concert. The venue is very cool, we enjoyed paying a little extra to sit up in the balcony. Looking forward to going again. off street parking wasn't a probelm the night we went (Sunday).

Visiting Esther's Hobby Shop is a feature of every visit I make to Pittsburgh. It is filled with goodies and it is like a sweet shop but for adults. Mind you, the goodies are a little more expensive but I have been satisfied with every purchase I have ever made there and have been visiting since 2010. Bob is a great guy and full of chat.
