Visit our family owned and operated chocolate shop located in a renovated century home in Geauga County, Ohio. Our chocolate kitchen is on the same property, located just behind the house. Our shop is filled with premium chocolates made fresh and in small batches. Novelty confections not readily found in other chocolate shops fill our shelves as well as the classic favorites, nut clusters, caramels, truffles, creams, jellies, and fudges. Our gift shop stocks Jim Shore, cards, and plush - something for everyone, but a must see for the Chocolate Lover.

I went to The Swine Creek Reservation late in the morning on a sunny Monday in mid-October. The leaves were beginning to change, but still a little way from peak color. I have been to almost all the Geauga County parks, but this was my first time here. I think this is the best park to get in a good hike. My plan was to hike three or 4 miles, but due to some trail confusion ended up doing more like 5 miles. The wagon trail is a nice walk with crushed gravel and only some up and down. The meadowlark trail is fairly flat on a grass path through an old farm field that now has lots of wildflowers and ends up at a pond…while I did not see a meadowlark, I did see a female pheasant. Most of the rest of the trails are rough and unimproved. There are steep climbs and descents and many creek crossings…so wear proper footwear after rains…I did not have any problem staying dry. My favorite trail was the Grey Fox trail as it was a good walk, well-marked and varied habitat along the way. I do wish the trails were a little better marked. I have the trail map on my phone and still found it hard to go where I intended…there are some mystery trails that are not on the map. The are also a disappointing number of trail marker posts in place, but the directions or trail names have fallen off. The back trails are particularly hard to follow when the leaves are on the ground…They are narrow and easily covered. I highly recommend this park for hiking.

Formerly known as Middlefield Cheese, Rothenbuhler Cheesemakers has been producing delicious Swiss cheese varieties of high quality since 1956, when Hans Rothenbuhler made its first 250 lb. wheel of cheese. Hans and his wife Ann worked as a team in creating Middlefield Cheese, with Ann running the retail store, known today as the Rothenbuhler Cheese Chalet. Today, the company is led by the couple's son, John, who leads with the same passion and commitment to quality as his father. The Cheese Chalet offers a wide selection of meats and cheeses cut to order, fresh sandwiches, bakery items, local and gourmet products, and of course samples of our Swiss! The store has become a destination not to be missed-come by for a taste to see for yourself why!
We went to Grand Valley Footwear for a HUGE selection of boots and shoes and then on the way home saw this cheese factory. We were honored to actually have the daughter of the owners in the gift shop that day that explained the differences in all the cheeses that they make. For $20, I got a decent sized chunk of each variety and when we got home we tried all of them. Some of definitely strong, and a few too soft for my liking. But all rather tasty and a fun experience. As far as museum, they have a lot of information around and seating to watch the video on their history. I wouldn't make a special trip just to come here, but I'd definitely come again when in the area.
A Pedego electric bike rental is the very best way to experience Middlefield and beyond! The nearby bike trails are safe and breathtakingly beautiful. Visitors always say it’s the most fun and memorable activity of their trip. And locals are surprised to find such an amazing experience right in their own backyard. Wherever you’re from, we’ll make sure you leave with a giant smile on your face!
