Think you need an ocean for a beach? Think again. There are miles and miles of sandy lakefront beaches in Michigan (thanks to the four Great Lakes that border it). The west coast of Michigan has especially nice beaches—try a rental in Muskegon, Grand Haven or Saugatuck. You won’t need a car when visiting Mackinac Island. In fact, they’re not allowed—this lovely Victorian resort town is pedestrian-only.

The Comstock Brewery is home to our 200-barrel system and 50-barrel system, where beers like Oberon and Two Hearted are produced. The "Brew Gallery" was designed with visitors in mind and is just a short 12-minute drive from Bell's original brewery and Eccentric Cafe located in downtown Kalamazoo. Each tour does include 2 oz. samples. Visit our website for updates on specialty tour options and to reserve your spot on one of our tours.
We had such a great time touring the Behind The Scenes tour at Bell’s Brewery! Very interesting and our guide Robin was so wonderful and knowledgeable.

Guided by geeky imagination, influenced by sub-pop culture, and never satisfied with the status quo, B. Nektar aims to bring a modern twist on mead as well as diversify craft mead, cider, and beer. The Taproom offers safe and socially distanced seating. Masks are required.

We made a side trip to Holland on our way up state since we had not been there before. Adorable town! Decided on lunch at the New Holland Brewing Co and were not disappointed. Friendly atmosphere, nice menu and outdoor dining. Cold, delicious beer and tasty food. I would recommend the Whitefish sandwich-yum! Loved our time here-we will return!

Right Brain Brewery, aka RBB or "The Brain," is a microbrewery located in the up and coming SoFo District of Traverse City Michigan. Award-winning culinary inspired beers brewed with a brain, and without extracts. Beer No Evil!
We did a kabrew tour while we were in TC and this was our favorite. So many fun and clever choices. The inside is really cool.

HOURS Sunday - Thursday: 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday: 11:30 a.m.-11 p.m. Good ideas often start over beer. Always looking to take a good thing too far, we sat down over a beer (or two) and decided that beer itself was a good idea. Of course, not just some easy-drinking, institutional prole beer, but stuff like the beers we'd had at great bars. In short, we wanted beer with flavor. Complexity. Character. Intensity. Not words found in the mass-market lexicon. So with a banjo burner, a bunch of industrial-sized kitchen pots and as many buckets as we could find, we jumped in feet first. Once a week, every week. This led to brewing twice a week and handing out bottle after bottle to everyone we knew. Now, several years later and with a 15 bbl version of our banjo burner and kitchen pots for a brewhouse, we're befuddling the beer judges and converting the masses. One pint at a time. Located in the small lakeside town of Sawyer, MI, Greenbush crafts beers with names like Anger, Closure, Mammoth and Doomslayer-and with nothing under 6% ABV, the monikers are indicative of the styles. The brewery serves beer and a full menu out of its Sawyer taproom seven days a week and currently distributes to bars, restaurants and retailers throughout the state of Michigan, in metro Chicago and Northern Indiana.
Staying at a lake house with extended family required I search out the local area for some tasty beer and Greenbush Brewing was a perfect spot. I stopped by the annex, where I bought a growler (there are many, many options available on tap, or in the cooler). The location is lovely, with a real attention to detail: boccie courts, and an outdoor beer garden along with tall benches to sit at inside. I saw kids running around outside, and with an ice-cream shop down the alley it is a perfect place to seek some shade if the beach has proven to be too much. I would recommend the location and their craft brews to everyone.

Founded in 2009, we started as the brainchild of three engineers living in Holland, Michigan. Two of us were devoted home brewers for years, working in a garage with a Sabco Brewmagic and perfecting our recipes. That half barrel system eventually turned into a three barrel system in a 3000 square foot pub with sixty seats. With an emphasis on quality ingredients, consistent recipes, and a passion for quality control, our three barrel system soon turned into a seven barrel system with a small canning line. Within three years of opening the pub, demand grew and we opened a production facility with a fifteen barrel brewhouse. A year later we moved out of the 3000 square foot pub into a 7000 square foot brewery with a full kitchen. Growth hasn’t come easy for us, but with a foundation built around quality, consistency, and a passion for good beer, Big Lake Brewing has grown more than we could have imagined and we’re excited to see what the future holds. Live with passion, love life.
We did a quick pit stop after leaving Saugatuk MI. Wish we had more time to hangout and eat. Great customer service starting from the hostess/ manager greeting us as we walked in. Bartender eager and happy to answer any questions we had as well as the server we ended up with at our table sweet and friendly seemed to love their jobs at it showed. Beer was amazing we took home a cotton candy IPA in a beautiful growler along with a souvenir glass. Wish they had tank tops and were dog friendly. We will definitely return next year 2021.

We had an opportunity to visit this UP North gem while on a trip to Marquette. Even with the new restrictions, it was a great place! Great outdoor area with an interior and exterior bar space. The beer selection was well executed, along with merchandise available. If you are in the UP and in need of a good time, please stop by.

Cheboygan Brewing has some great classics and seasonal brews. Try the rooftop seating or carry out. Blood Orange Honey is a good starter.
