Miami is hot hot hot! And it’s not just the sultry weather. Here, the nightlife is scorching, thanks to a strong Latin influence and spicy salsa culture. Dance the noche away in a nightclub, or indulge in a fancy meal at one of the city’s celebrity-owned restaurants. By day, hit the beach of course, or have yourself a walkabout, taking in Miami’s colorful art deco architecture. Grab a Cuban sandwich in Little Havana, then ride the vintage carousel at Virginia Key Beach Park.

I’ve been meaning to review Tower Theater since I saw the East Coast premiere of Tigre (2018 Miami Film Festival) this past March. It is such a splendid spot to catch a film, and I've seen several there over the past few years. Its classic Art Deco facade harks back to the roaring ‘20s when it was the first of its kind of theater in the entire South. Today, it is one of Miami’s leading cultural institutions. Located in the heart of Little Havana along famed Calle Ocho, it is in the midst of other well-known gems such as Ball & Chain and Azucar Ice Cream. A historic landmark, it has thrived under the guardianship of Miami Dade College since 2002. Tower Theater has been instrumental in bringing the delights of bustling Little Havana to both local and out-of-town cinephiles. It is the meeting point for the popular Little Havana tours conducted by local historian Dr. Paul George on Friday nights. Tower Theater plays a fine mix of independent and foreign-language films and is one of the host cinemas for the Miami Film Festival. It also presents cultural events and performances from time to time. When it premiered the Japanese film “Our Little Sister,’” a delegation from Miami’s Japanese Consulate was in attendance to introduce the film along with Fushu Daiko who entertained the crowd with Japanese Taiko drumming. Not only is Tower Theater one of the best reasons to visit Little Havana, USA Today heralded it as one of the 10 great places to see a movie in splendor in their round-up of the best old-fashioned movie palaces! Parking is readily available in the lot next door or on the surrounding streets. The concession stand is modest, not untypical of independent theaters, but it has something tasty to satisfy everyone. The intimate lobby is a lovely gathering spot with several comfortable seating areas. The staff are always friendly, organized and helpful.

– Silverspot Cinema in Met Square, located at 300 SE 3rd Street (3rd and 3rd), in Downtown Miami, is all the rage. The new theater provides patrons with a swank and trendy theater experience all its own, earning a reputation as the area’s ultimate destination for film, libations, culture and fun. From posh recliner seats to in-theater dining service, guests will delight over the delectable dining
We were happy when CMX finally opened in Brickell City Center. Went several times and found it more disappointing each time we returned! when Silverspot opened we tried it out. Extremely pleased! The theater is brand new, well laid out, great leather (or like leather?) reclining seats, tables to set you food if you dine in-theater. the staff is well trained and very customer service oriented. The food is pretty good and reasonably priced. We believe the total experience is way better than CMX. for those of us that live in Brickell and are close to both theaters, we are now choosing Silverspot almost every time. in addition to all the benefits mentioned above, it is also over $10 less per person! They also offer a discounted rate on Tuesdays! so,,,,very tough to justify not going to Silverspot! I hope they keep up the good work!
