Murals are complex bits of visual history. My guide, Jaime Hernández with Pátzcuaro Magic Tours explained the mural to me and helped me see things I would never have seen otherwise.

Calakmul´s visitor center is a place where you can find all the information about Calakmul, Campeche. We provide you with information, maps, contacts and everything you need to enjoy your visit to Calakmul and the communities around
My boyfriend and I had a fantastic time visiting Calakmul. Kary was super helpful getting everything organized for us. The walk through the rainforest to enjoy the flora and fauna was a fantastic way to start the tour. We enjoyed bird spotting, howler monkeys, and a bizarre stinging caterpillar that looked like a spikey branch which attached to my pants. The ruins deep in the jungle were my favorite that I’ve ever been to. Very remote, no crowds of people, and absolutely stunning pyramids towering over the canopy. Our guide Ezekiel provided great information and was able to answer our many, many questions about Mayan culture both past and present. The campground was in a pretty spot near a seasonal lake, luckily full after a season of heavy rain. The long road to the campground was bumpy but passable. No hot water available for showers, but air mattresses, sleeping bags, and tents were nice and covered by a palapa which kept everything dry.

Run by volunteers, this library is the second largest bilingual library in Mexico.
We found the Biblioteca a hub we constantly returned to for rest, cafe, Sunday morning music programs and enrolling in advance for Sunday House & Garden tours. Just a cool place to rest, get free Wifi and use restrooms made it attractive, and it's close to the Jardin, Artisan Market, many restaurants. Makes it very easy to meet other expats. Sell used books, too!

This downtown library is a main branch of the University of Guadalajara library system.
A truly tasteful and loving restoration of one of the oldest buildings in Guadalajara and in North America.

Merida English Library is based on the model of the classic, local public library, which is the centerpiece of every community in the United States and Canada. Its mission is to provide English language materials in all formats to meet the information, educational and recreational needs of English-speaking people of all ages in the diverse communities which make up Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. Its also a great place for a visitor to meet other English-speaking people and see what is going on in the expat community in Merida. Everyone is welcome to use the library during regular hours. To check-out books, you must become a member. For membership fees, visit our website.
The library has a large selection of books and DVDs, frequent events (including a two-day weekend art walk - superb), and twice weekly English conversation clubs. A drawback is that it is closed in the afternoon, but well worth a visit. No food except for coffee, softdrinks, etc.
