I walk here at least once per week during my lunch hour. The park is small, full of beautiful trees, a creek, a bridge, playground equipment and seating to sit and relax. There is plenty of wildlife to watch as well. I come over during the work day to regain my sanity and just take a nice break outdoors. It is especially beautiful in the Fall and Winter months. Park is acessible by car and foot near the east side.

Located near St. Paul, this 1,700 acre-park offers camping, hiking, biking, swimming and cross-country skiing.
Finally got to hike Afton. The park is on the river. There is a nice flat trail you can walk that is about 1.5 miles one way. There are a lot of other trails with lots of diversity. You can climb up hills. Go through prairie grass and walk through pine trees. This is a strenuous hike so be prepared. There are picnic tables too. We went in November and there were a lot of people so I’m assuming this park is really busy in the summer. The views on top of the hill are beautiful.

Located on Pike Island, this scenic state park is one of Minnesota's most visited attractions, which features trails for cross-country skiing, hiking and mountain biking.
Many people have no idea Fort Snelling State Park is there. It is under the Fort area at the bottom of the bluff along the river. It has wonderful hiking, and is an awesome place to go on a hot summer day.

I visited Crosby Park when the snow was almost completely melted this spring. It has a nice walking and bike trail, and was long enough to get some exercise. Crosby lake was gorgeous, and we found a trail that ran next to the Mississippi River. Keep an eye out for a large teepee on that trail! :)

First time hike in William O'Brien. Our kids had a great time looking at all the wildlife next to trails from beavers, geese, and ducks to woodpeckers. This park is unique in Minnesota as it includes many different types of habitats from woodlands to native prairie to wetlands. A must visit near the Twin Cities.
