We walked for awhile on this trail after dinner one evening. Absolutely beautiful and a really nice surface on the trail. We want to come back and ride the trail, especially in the fall!

Built as a memorial for Mabel Tainter, daughter of Andrew Tainter, this historical theater is one of the nicest in the world. This may be in part due to its unique Architectural style built with stone from the Downsville Quarry. Interior features include gold guided embellishments in the theater and recently renovated seating.
The addition was designed and built with stone from the same quarry as used to build The Mabel and added space for elevators for access to all floors.
I attended Broadway Karoake last week which was surprisingly good. This a night of show songs with happy theater folk practicing their craft for everyone's pleasure. The best part is this event is FREE. Mark your calendar for the first Monday evening of the month. You will be glad you did. Best Karoake in town and a wine bar.
Check out the website for scheduled performances on the main stage, the annual Art Faire or information about reserving the building for your wedding. Yes, you can now get married at the Mabel!
The presence of this theater in Menomonie has resulted in a wonderful variety of performances, year round.
If you visit around Halloween you may want to step inside to see if the ghost of Mabel makes an appearance.
Located on Main Street with easy access to the post office, shops, antiques and eateries.

This is one of the best hiking and/or exploring adventures in Western Wisconsin. So worth the off the beaten path route it takes to get there. We got a bit lost getting here, but once we arrived we found the best groomed trails that we've discovered on our summer's explorations, beautiful scenery, and an awesome tower that gives an overview from above the tree canopy. The tower is 60' tall, which my daughter informed me is the length of 3 Great White Sharks of the big size (Shark Week adventure...). So beautiful and worth the visit. Have a picnic, take a hike, and enjoy this great place with all your might.

We went to this museum as it also the Dunn County Historical Society. We met Carol who is the Registrar and Museum Manager. Fabulous lady - you need to meet Carol. She introduced us to Marian who is the champion of genealogy records for the Dunn County Historical Society - you need to meet Marian. Both were extremely helpful, found some news articles about my relatives, and really helped get our arms around some details for our genealogy project. This museum and historical society is well worth a stop as you travel near Menomonie, Wisconsin - fabulous source for genealogy "stuff"!!!!! A big thank you to Carol and Marian for all of your time and effort retrieving information and researching articles on my relatives from the past.

We were at the trout pond after the season but will go back mext year during the right time! This is a really quaint trout pond run by wonderful people that give great customer service. We bought the smoked trout spread (by the big size it is so great!), pickeled trout (we put the spead on a cracker with a piece of pickled trout OMG!), smoked trout (this was my husband fav!).
When we visited it was cold October day and we were the only customers. The guide took up to the back to see all the fish. He explain the process and was very passionate about the fish farm.
They also sell hats, t-shirts, can coolers etc.
Can't wait to got back!

Imagine a charming stone bridge with magical waterfalls, wistful gazebos, and sun drenched patios. Add to that, a collection of old-world cottages nestled into the countryside of soft, rolling hills. In the distance, vistas and cascading, lush, green vineyard add to the magical feel of this unique winery. This is the ideal location for your fairytale wedding, wine reception, gala party or an intimate gathering. Inside, you can taste and savor the vintner's craft from Wisconsin and around the world. The tasting room offers wine tastings, wine by the glass and bottle, a small line of beer and soda, artisan cheese and cracker basket, and chocolates. No reservation required, just stop on out during open hours. Cheers!
Beautiful grounds, they were setting up for a wedding while we were there, and it was easy to see why someone would choose this for their wedding! The person pouring was not overly knowledgeable about the wines, though kind. We asked some questions that she couldn't answer, but the wine was good, and we did buy some.
