A cozy and unpretentious Whisky Bar in the heart of Melbourne CBD. We have over 360 whiskies from Scotland, Japan, America, Australia and many other countries. Open every day from 12 noon until 12 midnight.
Great little place. Our host was an Italian/Scottish Aussie who appears to be part of the structure of the place; loves his whisky and is full of great advice. The sort of bar you see in movies but rarely exists in real life.

Incredible bar, great vibe, not too loud, drinks were fantastic. Cheesecake martini tastes like cheesecake. And while you’re there, ask for a ‘Redbeard’s Revenge’ from Rhys. Ginger with the beard. It’s his own original recipe and it’s PHENOMENAL!!!!!!!!

With sweeping views up and down the Yarra River, across the CBD and south to the Arts and Sports Precinct, Transit Rooftop Bar is one of Melbourne's original rooftop venues. Ideally situated on the edge of Federation Square in the heart of Melbourne, Transit Rooftop boasts a stunning outlook, either day or night. With heated outdoor terraces, unparalleled vistas and exquisite food, all under the guidance of Exec Chef and GM Tony Twitchett. Transit is the ideal venue to start or finish an evening, while away a crisp Melbourne night or linger and enjoy wonderful hospitality, live music and contemporary cocktails. Boasting some of the best sunset views anywhere in Melbourne, Transit Rooftop Bar is a cocktail bar, live music venue, quirky wine bar and celebrates views of Melbourne other venues would kill for.
We were walking around Melbourne and visited this bar for lunch. After a long walk out to the sports venues, this place really hit the spot. Friendly staff, an interesting lunch/snack menu, good range of drinks, and great views of the Melbourne skyline, the trams, and the MCG. It's very convenient for all the transport including river trips. It has a lift, making it accessible for all. Not the cheapest place you'll visit, but the ambience made it worth it for us.

Cozy laneway bar with great cocktails and a wide range of spirits, craft beers and wines. A place to unwind and relax after a hard day's work or before an evening show. Happy hour specials 4-7pm weekdays, and live music Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.
Chilled Tuesday night drink before heading back to hotel. Relaxed and great range of cocktails right in the middle of the city. Raspberry martini was the fave cocktail of the night.

Essie opened 3 weeks ago but last night was our first visit. Our group of 8 was comfortably accommodated around a large centre table but there are several small tables and a long wall bench. A little room off the main bar was warm on a chilly night with a roaring wood fire. For warmer days/nights there is a lovely outdoor area. Now to the main part - the wine (although beer is available on tap or in bottles). There is an excellent choice of wine with the bottles displayed on an easily accessible wall - perfect for browsing. Plus there are (about) 20 wines by the glass. The owner, a young guy called Angus, is very knowledgeable about wine and was happy to talk us through the choices. Although we didn't go by train, next time we probably will because it is right opposite the Malvern Station. We think Essie a great addition to an area which, unlike most of Melbourne, has few wine bars.
