Our tour of the Great Ocean Road was great. Melvin did a fantastic job. It is not a short ride but he made it very enjoyable. He knew the best way to perform the route and how to avoid the crowds as much as possible. He took us to wonderful locations to admire the particular landscape from this coast. Melvin was very flexible and very professional. Vehicle was very comfortable, clean, fully stocked with water, great music and Melvin also surprised us with wi-fi on the way back. When asked why he did not mention the wi-fi on the way out his honest response was “if I give you wi-fi, you will not admire the beauty of the scenery “. This is a great way to visit the Great Ocean Road without the inconvenience and hassle of large group tours.

We booked 2 tours with Australian Private Tours, Dandenong mountains and the great ocean road. Cameron was quite attentive and called me to explain in detail our travel itinerary even when he is overseas. He was very efficient and would reply to my email very promptly. Our tour guide, Francois was fantastic! He is really amazing and also easy going. His positivity is contagious, which made us all happy during the tour. He is considerate and attentive to each of our needs. It was very relaxing on tour with him as he didn’t rush us during the day. Australian Private Tours is truly worth it. With such fantastic service and the price is really affordable too. It is one of our best trips and I will definitely choose this company again in the future.

Woke up at 3am in a cold 4 degrees celcius, left home at 4am to meeting point at Yarra Glen at about 5.30am, @globalballooningaustralia took flight at about 7am producing about an hour of awesomeness. We were fortunate to have a smaller basket which meant it was a private group accompanied by super friendly and fun pilot Georgia (Scarlet on the ground, standing by for our go-by-ear-landing site). The lift to 2000ft was smoothly executed, a little bit of rough landing in the end (expected and thrilling). We saw the city skyline, wild kangaroos, a fast running rabbit, Yarra River that runs through the city, Sugarloaf Reservoir that supplies 30% of our water. Ended the hot air ballooning experience with a beautiful Champagne breakfast at Balgownie Estate as part of the package. This is how my wife surprised me for our 20th wedding anniversary, “ascended to the sky”. ???? Watching TV, reading reviews, they are just different with experience it first hand. Everyone should try it at least once. ????

7. Small Group - Yarra Valley & Dandenong Ranges Hike from Melbourne

Hamer Hall, Melbourne, 100 St Kilda Rd, Southbank VIC 3004, Australia Hike & Seek

We embark on an easy to moderate 6.6km hike in the Eastern Sherbrooke Forest through towering Mountain Ash trees and wetland ferns. Keep your eyes open for lyrebirds, wombats, wallabies, and echidnas that call the forest home. Next, we head to the Californian Redwood forest and enjoy a short 1km stroll to marvel at these awe-inspiring giants; some trees stand up to 100m tall! This forest is one of the best-kept secrets of the Yarra Valley region. Next up, we pull into one of Yarra Valley’s favourite wineries, Innocent Bystander, for lunch. There's plenty of time for wine tasting too if you choose. After lunch, we skip over the road to visit craft beer brewery Matilda Bay, before jumping back in the van to visit the lads at Payten & Jones for more good wine and great tunes. We top the day off with a visit to Four Pillars, a small craft distillery (that's been named the world's leading gin producer two years in a row).

Inclusions: Organic fruit & healthy snacks, Freshly brewed Coffee Supreme & organic tea, Rain ponchos & first aid, Air-conditioned vehicle, Friendly and knowledgeable tour guides, Unforgettable memories

Exclusions: Hotel drop-off, Hotel pickup

It's one thing to go to an amazing place of natural beauty and Wilson's Prom NP certainly packs a punch and ticks that box with great hiking trails, beautiful vistas, green valleys, sandy and secluded beaches, and lots of wildlife. But to go there with a tour that manages to squeeze all that in one day without making you feel exhausted so you can truly appreciate your visit takes a real expert 9adn that's where Hike and Seek tick all the boxes!). Special thanks to the tour guide Michael, who could answer any queries and engaged with all participants to make us feel part of the team. It is a long day (and more so for the tour guides) as the drive to Wilson's Prom is almost 3 hours each way from Melbourne so make sure you have a book with you (you will have your own light and air condition vent in the minibus!) or download earlier some good podcasts to watch (you will travel through places with no or poor internet access so be prepared).
