Međugorje, or Medjugorje, (Serbo-Croatian pronunciation: [mêdʑuɡoːrje]) is a town located in the Herzegovina region of Bosnia and Herzegovina, around 25 km (16 mi) southwest of Mostar and close to the border of Croatia. The town is part of the municipality of Čitluk. Since 1981, it has become a popular site of Catholic pilgrimage due to reports of alleged apparitions of the Virgin Mary to six local children.

Since 1981, when six local children claimed they had seen visions of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Medjugorje has become an unapproved destination of Catholic pilgrimage. The messages attributed to Our Lady of Medjugorje have a strong following among Catholics worldwide. Medjugorje has become one of the most popular pilgrimage sites for Catholics in the world and has turned into Europe's third most important apparition site, where each year more than 1 million people visit. Whether you’re making a pilgrimage or you’re just curious, a visit to Medjugorja is a memorable one.

Such a nice tour from Drazen, lovely man! Very informative of Croatian history and open to questions. He made sure we were comfortable in our boats and was flexible with what we wanted from the experience. He brought refreshments and snorkelling gear and was very attentive when we asked for pictures. Overall amazing experience, a must do when in Croatia!

Funky Tours arranged several excellent tours while I was based in Bosnia (one or two which were free of charge) between October 2020 and March 2021. This included a food and drink tasting tour, the siege of Sarajevo tour, a day trip to Jajce and Travnik, a day trip to the Srebrenica genocide memorial centre, as well as one to Herzegovina which included stops in Mostar, Medugorje and Pocitelj. Each tour was outstanding and the tour guides, having lived through the events you learn about on the tours, are fascinating people to spend a day with (a big thanks in particular to Taib). I learned so much about Bosnia, past and present, from them. Booking the tours was always made easy and they even arranged a customised tour of the famous Sarajevo City Hall which included a visit to a replica ICTY courtroom (a big thanks in particular to Ema). I learned so much about Bosnia on each tour - from what it was like living through the war to finding out about the Bosnia of today. Even although some of the events they cover are difficult for a visitor to comprehend (partly because the country has been largely rebuilt), you come away from it realising how relevant Bosnia's history is to the world we live in today. I was lucky enough to see first hand so many of the great things about the country - its diverse landscapes and stunning views across several towns and cities (especially Sarajevo), how much the country has been rebuilt in the last 20 years (it would not be fair to class Bosnia as 'war torn' any longer), the wonderful mix of architecture and traditions, its excellent local cuisine and of course the down to earth and wonderfully hospitable Bosnian people who are always welcoming of visitors. Bosnians are rightfully keen to show that their country has so much more to it than the war that ended there more than 25 years ago. Having been on several tours I feel like I am just about an expert on all things Bosnia and Herzegovina. I absolutely recommend Funky Tours - in fact I cannot recommend them highly enough. Bosnia is a great country to explore and because of its offering which includes Olympic ski slopes near Sarajevo and vineyards in Herzegovina it can be considered as both a winter and summer destination. The main thing is to make sure you go there at some point - and use Funky Tours to show you around! (the tours I went on were always carried out within covid restrictions, in a small group or one to one)

Really enjoyed it. Kotor and Budva are beautiful. Picked up from the hotel, the driver/guide was very good and knowledgeable, I forgot his name otherwise I would personally praise him. I would recommend the trip. The price of it I thought was fair. 2 hours in each of the above towns is just enough to have a quick look round and visit a few buildings.

Discover Mostar, known as a window to the Orient. See the old Turkish bridge that’s a symbol of the city and explore the old bazaar. Visit the famous pilgrimage site at Medjugorje, where the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared to local children. Mostar as the center and capital of Herzegovina has always managed to captivate its visitors a unique experience of mixing cultures of East and West. It is situated on the Neretva River, which separates and connects both the Muslim and the Christian side of the city. The Old bridge is a world-famous symbol of the city, which with mosques, Turkish houses and other closely eastern sights makes Mostar a destination everyone will remember.

We’d booked this tour with Costco as we had had good luck with their service on previous cruises—and they did not disappoint. Our guide, Jolanta Car, was waiting at the bottom of the gangplank with a sign. There were three of us + Jolanta. We walked to her car and began the hour and 15 minute drive into Istria. Jolanta speaks perfect english and carried on a running conversation all the way to the first stop: a little farm restaurant out in the hills. After a brief wait for the members of another tour (which arrived by bus), we had a light lunch with wine and could see Motovun—an old tiny town built on top of a mountain. That was our second stop. Jolanta parked the car and we started up the hill. My wife had recent surgery and chose not to make the walk, and waited in the car. The three of us walked to the top and Jolanta purchased tickets to walk around the wall, as well as a cappucino. We spent about a half-hour there, then walked back to the car and continued to a small distillery, where the owner provided an overview of their processing and provided free samples. Very informative. We returned to the ship on time. It was a wonderfult time and we felt like we had gained a new friend. As we left here, my wife asked if she had a card—she does and owns her own tour company ([email protected]). When we got back to the ship, my wife wondered if Yolanta could set up a private tour in Dubrovnik. We had not as it was supposed to rain—but perhaps a private tour could work. 45 minutes later, we had a tour and a deal. The Dubrovnik tour was also excellent and we recommend Jolanta without reservation.
