Since 2006, the BEAR SANCTUARY Müritz has provided mistreated and neglected bears with a safe and natural home. At the time of writing, 16 brown bears live in the open air enclosure, which covers an area of some 16 hectares. Visitors to the sanctuary can take a walk through the park, experience the bears in their natural environment and learn more about these most fascinating of wild animals at the many and varied interactive information points. What the bears find here is a habitat which repects and caters for their natural requirements. A varied landscape with mixed woodland, grasslands, forest glades, hillsides and a natural water course. These are the best possible conditions for brown bears to rediscover their true and instinctive characteristics; to live as nature intended.
Went there after picking up a leaflet at the local campsite. We saw around 10 bears, including Michal that has his front left lower leg amputated. There is a lot of space (16 Hectares) and the bears are allowed to roam their areas freely. That means you may not see them easily. However, if the bears decide they don't want to play then there are other things there such as information on the different animals you will see in the forest and information about 4 Paws - the rescue charity running the site. It took us about 2 hours to walk around, there are 16 bears there, all of them rescued from poor conditions. Facilities are good, good sized carpark and very close to Plausee so lots of other things to do in the area.

Karls is a colorful mix of exciting experiences, shopping and culinary delights in Rovershagen near Rostock.
We had booked for the first time, a Christmas day brunch at Karl's..We arrived at 10am, to many more people and an overflowing buffet of hot and cold delicacies. Table seating arrangements were in place and our children could roam freely with their day pass which we had purchased extra. The food was delicious and afterwards we followed our children to the new attractions which were installed in one of the halls. Then a visit to the new exhibition of Eiswelt, with theme Africa. The day was rounded off with a music & light show outside. At Karls they do everything right!
