My husband and I spent our 22nd anniversary at the Shore Lodge. We also spent two days soaking. We didn't get any treatments, but paid for soaking passes for two days. The staff was extremely attentive. It was quiet and so relaxing. We went at least three times a day. Our lockers were ours for the day. If you need a larger robe, they have them. When I went back the second day, by the time we got there (just minutes after we called), my locker was ready with the correct sized robe. We had no problems getting reservations, but we were there mid-week. I don't know how hard it is to get passes when it is a weekend.

I drove up to Burgdorf by myself a couple of weeks ago. I rented one of the cabins just for the day, since the cost was minimal and I thought it would be nice to have a place to relax and read a book, and perhaps take a nap. When I arrived, I was impressed by the young man who checked me in. He was polite, knowledgeable, and professional. The building that houses the check-in desk is so interesting and historic. It was spotlessly clean and filled with books and antiques and comfortable places to sit, and some food and beverages that could be purchased to eat. Then I checked out the little cabin I had rented, which was just across the street and felt very safe for a person traveling alone. It was so charming - there was a bed, a table and chairs, a bookshelf with some interesting books, a small wood stove, and simple curtains covering the windows. It's a very old cabin, like something you would see on "Little House on the Prairie," which was just what I wanted. There was plenty of wood provided to build a fire, there were matches provided, and specific instructions for those who hadn't used a wood stove before. The wood stove quickly heated up the little cabin. I walked across the road to the hot springs and had a very enjoyable soak. There were a few young couples there, one with a little girl wearing water wings in the children's area. It was shallow enough for her to stand up and play. I chatted with a retired couple and soaked in one of the two hotter tubs, where the hot water comes in from the spring, and then enjoyed the larger pool, which is about body-temperature. The pool was quite clean, especially considering how historic the place is - I was impressed with the upkeep of the grounds. I stayed a few hours, and enjoyed the long-haired goats walking casually up the road, and the clearly happy chickens up the hill - and just the general ambiance of the place. I commend the staff for taking such good care of the cabins, pool, and public areas, while still making it feel as though I had travelled back to the 1800s. The next time I come, I'll bring more family and rent a cabin so we can have a place to visit and eat, even if we don't end up spending the night. One more thing...there was recently a forest fire in that area, and seeing all of that was really something. There is plenty of green forest left, as well, and I enjoyed driving past the upper Payette Lake. The scenery from McCall to Burgdorf is quite varied and ever-changing. I experienced the beautiful yellow of the Tamarack trees in fall, sunshine, rain, and snow, all in one drive. It was an excellent adventure.
