Maydena Bike Park is a gravity-focused mountain bike park open now in Tasmania’s Derwent Valley. Designed and built by renowned trail company, Dirt Art, our world-class trails will offer something for everyone, from families through to elite riders. With an ever growing network of unique gravity trails as well as a retail bike shop, workshop, café and bar you can focus on riding more.
Seriously you cannot go passed Maydena Bike Park, an easy flight from Melbourne and a spectacular drive of around 80 minutes to the Bike Park. It is soooo easy. Accommodation is in abundance and super close to the Park, you just need to do a little planning for food, which is no biggy. The Park has really good food options and caters for many dietary needs. The Power Bowl was my fave and don't forget to add the chicken and beans. The Park staff are just off the charts, the crew there were amazing. NOTHING was too hard. We had bike issues, all sorted and done fast, then we had a small first aid issue, again cleaned up and riding on the next shuttle. The service is great and the Beers on tap are truly a treat, post riding of course ;) The Park itself is just MTBing heaven, so much gravity and flow with so much variety. I would class our style of riding as a Black run average but I can tell you that we had fun on all the trails. Some of the greens were amazing. It is just a super fun place to ride with a really chilled out atmosphere. I would rate my experience right up there as an International MTBing destination. Well done to the Team at Maydena, the place just keeps on getting better and better.

For me the Styx Valley was a highlight of my Tasmania trip. Be sure to visit the Tolkien Track even if it is difficult to find. Information can be obtained from the friendly staff at the Mt. Field Visitor Center.

This is a beautiful walk through rain forest and more very tall trees. Because Maydena is fairly isolated we were the only ones on the track leading to the cave so it was quite pleasant. We went at a leisurely pace which gave us time to enjoy the walk and to have a good look for the trout which inhabit the stream.
